I bought this book as a paper back, back in the eighties when it were first published and again as a digital copy recent. I loved it then and I love it now. Editing not so much. The book is still true to it’s nature; a super natural adventure with impossible romance. The impossible happens and shatters the characters world view and steals away their life, the only way to get it back and put things right is to stop evil. A great story then and now.
Editing not so much; when this was turned into a digital copy somebody made a mistake. The section breaks within the chapters are a paragraph early. Example: Joanna is at a town house in the high end part of town, BREAK with two lines open space, but the paragraph is the same section. The paragraph after it, is the start of a new section and she’s at a tavern on the other side of town. This is odd and annoying as (input word of choice here), but consistent through out the entire book. The previous book as well (Silent Tower). Given it’s consistency I’m assuming it’s a computer error and would really love if someone could change it for the next time I down load the book.
Editing not so much, but probably can’t do anything about it. This book was written in the eighties and the heroine is a computer programmer who carries around 5inch floppy disks, talks about 20 megabyte hard drives that cost 2 thousand dollars a piece, the Marx brothers (look them up, if you can) and absolutely no cell phones, flat screen TV’s or color computer monitors. This is no problem for me, majority of the story takes place where technology has no relevance, plus I remember all the references, but to new readers it might be a bit off putting, but it is an easy fix, re-edit the book and update the older references with modern ones. The story is still relevant, entertaining and fun. Just needs some tweaking to keep current for modern audience.
