This author certainly knows how to ramp up the suspense! The main character, Nash, seems to land in one dangerous predicament, narrowly jumps out, only to land in a far worse potential disaster! This time he is scared to death his secret will be revealed -- an agent for the FBI has learned what it is and uses it to blackmail Nash into helping her solve a series crimes that threaten the very lives of thousands, if not millions, of American citizens. The action and suspense continue to the very end!

P.S. Upon finishing books 1 through 7, I can honestly tell you the quality and suspense and action are in every single book and I recommend them all!

The Best of the series so far

I found the first book in the Donovan Nash series weak but decided to read the second. Being a pilot, I enjoyed the detailed aviation background which for a novel was plausible and showed the authors aviation experience.

However, this book was brilliant. It’s as though the author had grown and developed. It has twists, intrigue and of course the hero who always wins (sort of).

This is a great series. Believable scenarios, likable characters, minimal language (1-2 words if I remember correctly). Pretty fast paced, easy to follow story line, holds your attention to the end. This book met my expectations. Each story can be read separately, but much better if read in order as the story continues with out cliffhangers.

The audible performance of this book leaves a lot to be desired. I prefer the voice of the reader of Category Five best. The series does not disappoint.

The character development is so astute it overwhelms one with feelings of compassion. This third book in the series is just as compelling (if not more) as the first two books. Donlay, who was unknown to me before I stumbled onto this series, certainly knows how to write a cliffhanger! And he knows how to make his characters come alive. He’s becoming my favorite author.

If you enjoy repetition, the Donovan Nash series is for you. We get the same worn out story over and over and over in each book with a few new things thrown in as the story proceeds along. I cannot believe that I have lasted through five of these books...wanting to scream as the Meredith story was repeated ad nauseum in each book. Not even anything new has been brought forth...same murdered Meredith and same old wounded Donovan with a twist here and there as an impossible rescue is thrown in.

I really enjoyed the story. Donovan is living a lie. He is successful but still living a lie. His plane takes a lightening strike and he has to put the plane down just a head of a storm in Florida. While he is still inside the plane talking to his wife, Lauren on the phone he sees his co-pilot being attacked on the tarmac next to the plane. He goes out and finds Michael has been shot. In the mean time the other guy steals the Gulfstream parked next to them. This starts a whole sequence of events that threaten to reveal his old identity and to cause a real problem to bring an attack on the Capital. Be sure to read this great story.

In Donlay's 2nd book, we are, once again, thrust into the middle of the action, as he takes us on a ride that culminates in an attempt by terrorists to best Donovan Nash (the protagonist in this series) and bring death to a appallingly huge number of Americans. The characters are brilliant, propelling us through the action that ultimately brings us to the final, thrilling, scene of Donlay's novel. If you enjoyed his 1st book, you won't want to miss reading this one, as well.
