The book starts off with Nikki being her usual blaming self for the first couple of chapters. She blames herself. Blames Cole. Ugh. The girl is starting to get on my nerves.
Then it starts to get interesting. Nikki, Cole and Max go to the Everneath to save Jack. During the book, it switches from present to past. I liked the past part is showed insights into Nikki and Jack. This one had more actions as the trio goes through the rings of the Everneath in the search for Jack. Cole risks a lot doing this for Nikki. I’m still rooting for him. The ending caught me by complete surprise, but I should have realized bad boy Cole had something up his sleeve.
I enjoyed it better than the first book, maybe bc of all the action.
