In the Introduction of this exceptionally important book, the authors write:
"Communist covert actions against the United States and other target nations were relentless and effective, far more than most historians have imagined. The Kremlin used such tactics in systematic fashion, made them key elements of state policy, and devoted enormous resources to them...it’s evident from now-available records that Communist penetration of our government—and our society in general—was, over a span of decades, massive. massive. Hundreds of Soviet agents, Communist Party members, and fellow travelers were ensconced on official payrolls, beginning in the New Deal era then increasing rapidly during World War II, when the Soviets were our allies against the Nazis. As the record further shows, Communists and fellow travelers on official rosters in case after case were agents of the Soviet Union, plighting their troth to Moscow and striving to promote the cause of the dictator Stalin. This is of course contrary to the notion that American Reds were simply idealistic do-gooders, perhaps a bit misguided but devoted to peace and social justice, and thus shouldn’t have been ousted from government jobs just because of their opinions. In countless instances, we know that domestic Communists in official posts were actively working on behalf of Russia, and thus were the minions of a hostile foreign power."
If you want to explain the state of decay in the US today, the rise of radical Leftist lunatics and the overthrow of the Government from within, this book is highly recommended. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Don't let these facts fall off the back pages of history. Don't repeat the errors of the past.
A particularly poignant plus of this book is Evans' chapter on Operation Keelhaul. If only the world knew about this as much as they do about the crimes of Nazi Germany. It's vital that people do find out about America's and Britain's policy of returning any and all Russian citizens back to the Stalinist Soviet after the war, to torture, gulags, and mass murder. (Look up "Operation Keelhaul" on a search engine to find out how merciless Socialists America was, an evil equal to that of European Communism and Fascism.)
If this weren't enough, Evans explains the sabotage of Japan, again serving the needs of Stalin not the West. Japan, which would have served Britain and America loyally to suppress Communism in Asia - and which remains fiercely anti-Communist - was deliberately misled and betrayed by Communist agents in the White House and US Administration. This is, again, a story that must get out and become well known publicly. (Read Pat Buchanan's "Churchill, Hitler & the Unnecessary War," for an equally brilliant explanation of this betrayal.)
I also recommend the other works by Stanton Evans, particularly his outstanding book on Senator McCarthy - "Blacklisted From History."
I highly recommend reading this book alongside Pat Buchanan's masterly work "Churchill, Hitler and "The Unnecessary War:" How Britain Lost Its Empire and the West Lost the World."
You'll have the education of a lifetime from these two earth-shattering books.

"A main focus of this study has been the oft-neglected link between pro-Communist infiltration of the federal government on the one hand and calamitous policy outcomes on the other. As suggested in preceding chapters, both the infiltration and the policy impact in many cases were substantial" - E. Stanton Evans (Stalin's Secret Agents)
