This book is so much fun! Easy to read, just enough creepy to keep you interested. Sam writes short stories in this book, but one of my favorite parts, is the authors notes after each story. I often wonder what goes through the authors mind as they write, or what inspired an idea. Well, here you have it! I now love her vampire Lucenzia so much that I will be reading the series of books she is in. I highly recommend this book - you'll thank me!
Zombies In New York has to be one of my fave books. I love the collection of stories and poems in this book. There are not many books that make me feel jumpy but The Toymaker's House, which is one of my fave stories in the book, managed to leave me feeling very jumpy afterwards and I love that Sam Stone does not shy away from the blood and gore as some authors do. I loved the Zombies In New York story, which features the vampire Lucrezia from Fultile Flame, which is book two in The Vampire Gene Series also by Sam Stone. There are a selection of stories in this book that feature Lucrezia which are all really good but Zombies In New York was my fave of the Lucrezia stories. My other fave story from the book was Immortal Monster as I really liked the fact that the story is deliberately ambiguous which let the reader interpret their own ideas as to what really happened. Another story I feel I just have to mention is Clown Addict which really had me laughing at some of the clownish deaths caused by the clown addict. I really liked the authors notes at the end of each story which explain the ideas of how the story came about, i thought this was a really nice touch. I have given this book 5 stars and would definately recommend it.
Something is sapping the energy of the usually robust dancers of the Moulin Rouge...Ok, that's all I had to read to get sucked into the story. Good read. Creepy, yet fun. Sam Stone is now officially on my watchlist for new books!
