I am an Edward fan. I have read all of his books and have enjoyed them all up to this one. He could have told this story in 3/4 th words an lost nothing of his characters or bis story. It jumped around a lot, which was sometimes necessary to the layout of his story, but not to the extent that he did it. The book felt disconnected at times because of the writing style. The style was not typical John Edward. Normally reading something that Edward writes, you can hear his voice in your mind right down to slightly snarky comments, reading him I much like listening to him speak. Not so with this book. I am interested in seeing his next effort. I did like the message that religion is not the answer in the battle of good against evil and that evil as well as good can be seen in all walks. The reader is left with the message that choice matter. I like that message.
I don't know what you all might think of John Edward as far as being a Psychic. However, if you have doubts about his psychic abilities I strongly suggest you put them aside when considering whether this is a book worth reading. First of all, as a fiction novel this story is so compelling and well written I couldn't put it down.
There have been countless novels written over the years about the Good vs. Evil conflict. We all know that there is supposedly going to be a tribulation and that the anti-Christ is going to wage war on us puny, Godless humans and claim our souls. Well, this novel pretty well maps how that is all gonna go down. There ARE people here on Earth who will be singled out to do battle with Evil and save humanity from the clutches of the Devil, at least this round of it.
The story centers around a handful of individuals who are drawn to each other inexplicably (at least in the beginning) and realize through Divine intervention (but not Manipulation as we must maintain FREE WILL) that they must work together and just believe enough to save their own humanity as well as the humanity of others.
This is NOT a preachy, religious story like the "Left Behind" series so if you didn't care for those don't think this is similar in ANY way. This is a FICTION novel. That said, I can't help but think that because of the fact John Edward is a Psychic and he is a Godly man, I can't help but think that he KNOWS something for real about the subject at hand. I read this this week (2/10/13) and this is the same timeframe that the Pope has resigned, meteors have caused more destruction to humans than they ever have and Israel is under the most duress it has been under for as long as I can remember. People are going insane with inhumane acts of violence. WHY?
If you just want a good compelling read then GET THIS BOOK. Just read it, pass it on and get on with your life. If you want a good read to make you really think about the subject matter and connect the dots...GET THIS BOOK. Back to what John might know.... The cataclysmic event in the novel occurs on Sunday, March 2nd. The next March 2nd that falls on a Sunday is in 2014. Interesting fact?
I would have given this novel 5 stars but the ending seemed a little too rushed, cutesy and cliched in its effort to tie everything up in a nice neat package.
At this point I don't know if I will ever get finished reading this book (or if I even want to try). When I first started it (I am 54% through it) I was very interested and could hardly put it down but it quickly began introducing character after character, each with their own life history detailed for the reader, so by the time the story returned to each character I had forgotten most of the information about them. I could re-familiarize myself with them to some extent but I found it quite tedious and annoying. One charachter in particular that found himself in the spiritual-heavenly realm became almost boring as the book drolled on and on about a specific situation he was experiencing (can't go into detail as don't want to be a spoiler). Yhe basic theme/idea of the book is excellent but I would enjoy it much more if it could have been a bit more simplified (not sure what that says about me, but that's how I feel about this reading experience).
I wish everyone would read this. Our world has fallen to GREED and so much violence, without caring about anyone or what tomorrow will bring. People only care about themselves and politicians are about the worst, having been in office too long. A wake-up call is coming and this book shows what I think is the problem. Evil is taking over the world, unless we stop and look to the light and start to realize we are all in this together.
When I learned about this upcoming book, I was looking forward to reading it...it's right up my alley. The read was not disappointing! I have recommended it to my friends and family, without hesitation. The book, underlyingly, speaks to synchronicity: paying attention to the little signs, the coincidences, the person who looks like someone you once knew- there is a choice to be made. It speaks to the light and dark within us all and how the ego can guide us down the darker path. Once the ego is released, a great path opens up...
His characters are very relatable. Usually, I care more for one or two character versus the others and often skim over certain character plots. But, in this book, I read about all of them (and there are quite a few!). I fell in love with each character. And as for Rae Luna...loved her (she reminded me of Rita from A Gifted Man).
It was a great read!! Thank-you for writing it and sharing this lovely and thought provoking story, Mr. Edward.
When I was reading your book, I noticed some spiritual similartities to my father's book. I have purchased another copy of your book and sent it to him, with a note of synchronicity! I hope he reads it because I know he will like it! As I was finishing up your book, I thought of the Fallen Masters and wondered if the same message wasn't being broadcast to you both. Although, there are many differences, the underlying influences seem relatable. I have included a link to his book. THREE of a HUMAN KIND
