Mrs Pollifax is in Thailand on a simple job. She is to go meet a man who has newly begun sending valuable intelligence to the Americans. Cyrus goes with her, but is promptly kidnapped. A man is dead at the site of the meet and another one is there and offers to help find Cyrus. Emily really has no other choice so relies on the possible killer of her contact. New bad men start to follow them leading them into a jungle hike. A lost monastery a strange man and very insular tribal people abound. Meanwhile a high level CIA man from Upstairs is acting oddly and a coup is happening.
I love Mrs. Pollifax books! Each is such a welcome light read, well written with mystery, flair and humor. This time it's hubby Cyrus who is abducted in Thailand and Emily who is hot on the trail after him (well, maybe there's no real trail.) Enjoy!
Not the best of this series. I do like the '60s and '70s and this series of sort of a pun on espionage novels from that time. A little disappointed in her writing on this on. Seems to be written by another person.
Fun book to read along with all the others in this series. Gets a bit predictable as you work through the entire series but if you just want a brief escape from this hectic world and don't want to run into a lot of foul language, explicit sex, and excessive violence, this is a good place to start.
