How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Every one of the O. C. L. T. that I have read are excellent adventure/fantasy adventures. I'm now anxious for more to be released.

4.0 out of 5 stars "South of the Border (Down Mexico Way)"
Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2019
In this short work, we see Wendell "Mack" Macklemore teamed up with Geoffrey Bullfinch; it’s the tech guy teamed up with the folklorist tackling a series of horrendous deaths in Mexico. It is also a tale of putting the band together that will become O.C.L.T.

Anyone who reads even some of the news today is aware of the problems with corruption, gang violence and drug trafficking across the southern border of the United States. In some tiny desert villages, it is also necessary to deal with old superstitions made new.

As I read more and more about Mack, I wish I could be his kind of tech multitasker. As he partners with old school experts, like Bullfinch, it is clear that neither could solve the problem on his own. The two combine verifiable information with fuzzy stories to come up with just the right answer to the question of who is responsible for the killings.

As I read "The Temple of Camazotz", one thing comes to mind over and over, and that is the oft used quote “How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?” from the classic Sherlock Holmes tale, "The Sign of Four." Deductive reasoning with a touch of the fanciful often brings the solution into focus.

To say that I am hooked on exploring this world would be a trivialization in the extreme. Although this is not a cliffhanger as such, it does tantalize so that I do want to read more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great new series bursts into life
Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2011
The Temple of Camazotz sees the launch of the exciting OCLT (Orphic Crisis Logistical Taskforce), detailing a loose group of experts who investigate and counter the stranger things in the world that most organisations wouldn't even know existed, and plunges us headlong into creepy goings on in Northern Mexico.

The two characters we meet; Wendell `Mack' Macklemore, a multi-skilled computer systems whizz with an eye for strange goings-on and a computer program for every eventuality, and Geoffrey Bullfinch the eccentric folklorist with a penchant for danger and tweed,, are both cleverly written and curious characters that drive the adventure along.

Exploring what seems to be the return of a particularly nasty bat-headed god, our two must battle superstition, corruption and downright terror as they search for the long-lost Temple and uncover the gruesome mystery behind the headless bodies that have turned up all over the area.
With a climax that hints at the fantastical and mysterious direction the series is likely to take, the Temple of Camazotz is a gripping Novella that will have you hungry for more in the series.

If you like this one, check out the first full-length novel in the series, written by David, The Parting, or the other currently released Novella, Brought to Light (written by Aaron Rosenberg).
