Allison Hewitt Is Trapped: A Zombie Novel is one of my favorite zombie novels, right up there with WWZ and Ashes. I was so excited to read Sadie Walker is Stranded.
Sadie takes place after the initial breakout, she is surviving in Seattle with her boyfriend and her nephew, Shane.
The writing is still tight, the story bogged down for me though because it was less about zombies and more about surviving with group dynamics," Lord of the flies" with zombies.
I agree with another reviewer, the ship and the island both seemed to claustrophobic for me. I did enjoy the interaction as the tribes tried to mesh.
Sadie as a character never fully developed for me. She talks about becoming a leader because of her mad wilderness skills, taught to her at her daddy's knee, but she never really foraged, killed any animals with her bow, provided food, etc, so while she talked about her skills she never seemed to really utilize any of them.
The zombies honestly were more of a catalyst for the story of Sadie and survivors, rather than having a starring role. There are some scary moments and sad moments (and a few amusing moments).
Overall I give this 3 1/2 stars, a solid B. A good solid read and I would still read any books Roux writes.
