Being German I suffered under this persons ego trip and so did many other nationalities. How he came to power a nation known for hard work and dedication to exactness failed me until I read this book. It seems he was a nothing until the timing somehow gave him the opportunity to spout off his believes and as the timing was right for a real change, he came to rule. Fascinating reading.
I am a big fan of the History in an Hour series. These give you a couple of hundred pages so that you can get a strong background without knowing the details of they type of hair product that was used by Hitler. This particular book really lays out Hitler's life in a readable and understandable way that keeps you interested in the book.
I have read a few books on Hitler. I always wondered and have found many reasons for his hatred. How much hatred and how much opportunist was he. I always thought he was more opportunist and cashed in on some other crazies to do his work. Put this book with Auschwitz and you get a great picture.

If you want the basic facts presented in a no-nonsense, succinct way, this series hits the spot. I'd been looking at reading something about Hitler but every book seems to revel in the level of detail it offers and subsequentl.y you're faced with a book that will take weeks to get through. This book gives you enough about Hitler, including his family background and how he became what he became. Maybe not for everyone who may want to dig a bit deeper into this subject area but I've also read the book in this series that covers the Russian revolution and that was also worth the read.

I adore these history in an hour books. This contains some interesting details surrounding one of the most awful men in history. A curious insight into the life of such a strange character and the influences around him. Nicely written, easy to follow chronologically and just enough information to satisfy my curiosity. The only negative is that information was at times repetitive, but still a good read.

An hour is about right so a fairly superficial look at one of the most evil yet intriguing men in history. I enjoyed the book and it was well written but it was over fairly quickly and didn't tell me much I didn't already know. Does what it says on the cover.
Super quick condensed version of Hitler's life.... quite an eye-opener. Very informative, easy read style - the author has refrained from putting his personal slant on it. I read it as it was designed to be read - in one go, in less than an hour. Plus it is handy to have as a reference guide.
