This book is a pretty good read. Nothing ground shaking but interesting concepts. Off the top of my head I recall - keep investing in stocks that are doing well, have a team as a sounding board, and keep close watch on your porfolio allocations. He does not tell enough personal stories about success or failure - i prefer Jim Cramer books. This book does not dig in very deep - high level stuff.
This is an excellent book for any trader, beginner or experienced. Joe Terranova is kind enough to share his insights and market knowledge so we can all improve our investment strategies. It drives home the disciplines required to be a successful trader. Also appreciated the personal information as we all must realize key times to step back from the market. Even with years of trading experience this book taught me many improtant points that I have implemented in my trading today!
Joe Terranova is a great contributor to CNBC and specifically to CNBC's Fast Money team. In Buy High, Sell Higher, Joe educates the readers in the skills and tactics modern investment professionals are using to win. Terranova, better then anyone I know, explains that winning is not always to the upside but rather its often having downside protection in volatile markets. This is a must read for the seasoned trader as much as it is for the novice home gamer. The investment landscape has changed, especially in the past 10-12 years, and while we all wish we could be, we all can't be "The Oracle form Omaha." Furthermore, what I think Joe does differently is he gets personal with the reader, bringing them into his personal experiences and disciplines that have effected his winning percentages as a professional trader. This book is without an investment trade that I have already won in both directions of upside and downside protection through implementing some of "The Liquidator's" mandatory moves. Congratulations Joe on a fantastic book. Now it time to roll the sleeves up and get back to some homework.
