It has a sturdy and protective cover, and the fonts are nice and clear however, the pictures are distracting, the editing is really messed up since there many empty spaces where the lines should continue.
There are many reviews of the play below,, so I am reviewing this particular edition of tthe play. As someone reading all of Shakespeare for the second time, I am always alble to learn something from the World's Classics introduction. They are scolarly and complete and the text always has footnotes on the same page. I have tried other editions but these are the best. The Taming of the Shrew although it does contain episodes that are misogynistic to modern ears does portray a couple truly in love. As an early play Shakespeare is beginning to find his own voice.
I love this play and of Shakespeare's works, The Taming of the Shrew is by and large my favorite comedy.
At the end of the day however, this edition is a very bare-bones copy of the play. Everything is legible and there are some footnotes but line numbers are non-existant. I would not recommend this edition if you were writing a paper on this play.
Great edition of one of the most widely adapted of Shakespeare's comedies! I loved the inclusion of the critical essays that cover a variety of topics, including gender roles in the 16th century. Great value too!
THE TAMING OF THE SHREW is not Shakespeare's best, most clever work. It is--however--something most of his works are not: easy to understand. I read it for the first time yesterday, and I didn't have to re-read any passages or consult any footnotes. If you want to give Shakespeare a try but are worried it will be over your head, give this one a shot.
i enjoy reading shakespeare, so much in fact that i took a college class in it and this was one if the plays i read. i like the dover thrift because you can buy each work individually which makes my carry load much smaller and all college students like light carry loads!
