This second book in the Guardian Angelinos series is more compelling and suspenseful than the first: it will have you on the edge-of-your-seat throughout the entire novel. All the anticipation to what will happen next is just a nail-biting, entertaining read. Of course, there is a lovely erogenous romance between the two main characters that will leave you breathless.
In book 1, we were introduced to one of the main characters in this story, Devyn the wife of the murdered, criminal husband, Joshua Sterling. In this story, we learn that Devyn's birth mother is a university science professor, and her biological father, Finn MacCauley, is a notorious criminal wanted by the FBI. She does not know either of them; she was adopted.
The story begins with Devyn traveling to Belfast to find her birth mother. She finds where her mother is staying and ventures off in search of her. As she steps into her mother's hotel in Belfast, she asks many questions of her whereabouts. At this point, Marc Rossi enters the scene; he a is former FBI agent who now works for the Guardian Angelinos. He is sent on assignment from a client, the FBI, to go to Belfast to ravish Devyn to the point of making her return home immediately. Upon their chance meeting in the same hotel, Marc hits on her and asks her out. After refusing, Devyn runs into him again outside, and Marc persuades her to tour with him. Unaware of Marc's intentions, Devyn agrees to spend time with him while she waits for her biological mother to return back to the hotel. Through their adventurous sight-seeing tour she spots the birth mom she is waiting for and tries to chase her down. It is from this point on that the thrill ride begins.
The rollercoaster ride of suspense will have you gripping the pages: the twists and turns all the way through the story keep you guessing until the end (which you never see coming). During all this fantastic back and forth adventure, Devyn gets herself deeper and deeper in between the terrorists business (which has a lot to do with her birth mother). You should know by now that Devyn has refused to leave Belfast until she sees her birth mother, which drives Marc absolutely crazing but he will remain by her side during the course of this tale to protect her. Along the way, their closeness and relationship will deepen: there are moments of great passion and desire between the two that the pages start to steam up uncontrollably. It will grip you to no end with a very lovely, heart-warming conclusion. So, if you love a good, adventurous-suspenseful-romance story, I highly recommended this part deux in the Guardian Angelinos series!
Roxanne St. Claire delivers another pulse pounding, sizzling story in the Guardian Angelinos series. Shiver of Fear is intriguing and wickedly sexy.
Former FBI Agent Marc Rossi is bored with his gun shop, he wants to get back to field work. He jumps at the chance to work with his Angelino cousins on an assignment. He heads to Northern Ireland to find the lovely widow, Devyn Sterling. Marc made assumptions based on Devyn reserved, cool appearance that are nothing like the woman he meets. There is a hiding depth to Devyn that Marc is itching to explore if only he can complete his assignment and get her out of Ireland alive.
Devyn Sterling is a survivor, her deceased husband betrayed her and she is trying to find who she can be. She goes in search of her birth mother to warn her about the danger involving Devyn's birth father. Devyn isn't sure who is after them but all she knows is after telling her husband who her real father was he was murdered. Her search to locate her real mom leads her to Ireland and into the arms of Marc Rossi. Her initial attraction to Marc makes her weary and she isn't sure if she can trust him.
Devyn and Marc start out as tourist exploring the beautiful country together but there are parties that don't want Devyn to locate her birth mother. They will stop at nothing to see that they never met. But neither they nor Marc counted on Devyn's strong will and her desire to find out who she came from. It's going to take all of Marc's former training to get them out of the country alive. Will their new found relationship be able to survive as well?
Shiver Of Fear will have you in its gripes from the first page. The twist and turns are captivating and will keep you guessing. Watching Devyn's and Marc's relationship evolve from friends to lovers is sexy and emotional. Loved revisiting with the whole Rossi and Angelino family and can't wait to read the next book is this exceptional series.
Former FBI Agent Marc Rossi is drawn into the family business as an investigator with the Guardian Angelinos. His first assignment is to find missing socialite and widow Devyn Sterling (her husband Joshua was the murder victim in the previous novel ) who fled to Ireland in search of her missing birth mother and bring her home before she gets further embroiled in an on-going investigation. Marc doesn't count on falling for Devyn, and he manages to touch her heart while she tries to get a sense of her past.
The second in the Guardian Angelino series, the action is non-stop and the plot turns so many times you will get whiplash. I love when I am completely surprised at the end of a novel... and this one did not disappoint! The secondary characters are also what makes this series tick - even those with limited exposure. I love computer whiz Chessie, who puts Garcia from "Criminal Minds to shame! Can't wait for my Angelino/Rossi adventures.
There's only a few authors that I'll read consistently because thrillers & intense mystery's make me nervous whether they are in movie or book form. Usually I can't get past the previews before I'm under my chair. However, this was written with me in mind. I just love when a writer can keep you guessing and at the same time keep you interested enough to keep turning the pages even when you're a little worried about the outcome. It had a surprise ending as well. Well worth the read.
