5.0 out of 5 stars Another Hit from Lori Foster!

From the second I opened Trace of Fever I was drawn in. Trace Rivers is the kind of dangerous man a girl dreams about. He's oh-so-sexy, confident, and will do whatever it takes to take down a bad guy! And let me tell you, the bad guy in this book is E-V-I-L. After Trace's sister, Alani, was kidnapped by human traffickers in When You Dare (book #1 of this series), he's made it his mission to take down other traffickers. In particular, Murray Coburn. I give Ms. Foster kudos for delving into such an intensely uncomfortable subject. She has obviously done her homework on it and the affects survivors endure afterwards.

Priscilla Patterson knows all too well what being kidnapped, raped, and completely disregarded as a human being can do to someone. Priscilla's mother spent years in fear after fleeing from captivity. As a result, Priss grew up in a very sheltered life. After her mother's death, Priss becomes focused on ridding the world of Coburn, the man responsible for taking her mother years ago and who could very well be her father. Priss is gutsy! I love that about her. She is out of her element many times in the book, but she doesn't let it stop her. Instead, it fuels her desire to keep moving with her plan.

It isn't coincidence that Priss and Trace are thrown together on the same path. Never before have I read characters so completely RIGHT for each other! Each of their strengths complements the other in ways I've not seen done in other books. The chemistry between them is immediate and very hot!

There are so many good scenes in this book that I couldn't put it down. I had to know what would happen next! Helene, Murray's lover, is one psychotic woman! My stomach dipped, my teeth clenched, and I thought I'd snap my Kindle in half every time Hell (boy does that nickname fit her) showed up on the page! One of my favorites, though, was when Priss meets Jackson for the first time. I couldn't stop laughing at their predicament!

My only complaint is the teaser epilogue featuring Jackson and Alani. I already know Alani will be the character I relate to most in the series. I've looked forward to her scenes in both books, and simply cannot wait for Savor the Danger to be released! Jackson will need to be one special guy to make it work with her. Reading the epilogue was torture for this very reason! He makes his interest for Alani quite clear. Talk about a cliffhanger!

Thanks for another keeper, Ms. Foster!

2.0 out of 5 stars REALLY TERRIBLE AND A DISAPPOINTMENT

I have read many of Lori Foster's books enjoying most of them and read the first book in this series "When You Dare" and thought it was really wonderful. I was very excited to read this second book in the series and was so disappointed when I realized that it was just terrible. After struggling through the first half of it and tolerating Priss and her immature, idiotic behavior, I was ready to quit but I rarely give up on a book and an author whose work I know; so I finished it.

Priscilla (Priss) Patterson believes that the villain, Murray Coburn, is her father and it is her poorly laid out plan to kill him because of the way he had treated her mother and how her own life was affected by his brutality. In the meantime, Trace Rivers, the latest uber alpha hunk featured in this series, is on an undercover assignment to take out Murray and others working in his human trafficking operation. Trace's operation is jeopardized by Priss and her interference and juvenile behavior. Because the book is a romance, Trace falls in love with Priss though one would question his sanity in doing so. I was so tired of Priss's childish pouting, smart remarks and slugging people who offended her that I would have to put the Kindle down and give myself a break. Priss was a completely unlikeable character who detracted from the unfolding of this story that could have been very exciting. I also hated Murray and his girlfriend Helene who was a doormat for his kinky sexual behavior and who had a penchant for injecting people with drugs as a way to control their behavior. I found Murray and Helene's relationship and the description of their sexual antics disgusting.

I gave the book 2 stars because Trace was an interesting character and the plot was well planned with all loose ends tied up at the conclusion but this was certainly not Lori Foster's best work. I have already bought "Savor the Danger" and I hope it is better than this.

Trace of Fever is about Trace doing an undercover job trying to take down some human traffickers. While undercover he runs into a major complication. A young woman who is claiming to be Trace's bosses daughter. Trace instantly knows she's not what she appears to be, and that she has another agenda. But he has to figure it out quickly in order to keep her safe. Not only that but he didn't realize he would have such a major attraction to her either. And Priss does have another agenda. She wants to kill her so called father. She's not really sure he is her father, but she feels he needs to pay for his crimes, and she is going to be the one who makes him pay. But she never counted on the man having a "good bodyguard." And now she has a major attraction to Trace as well. And he seems to be wanting to help her and keep her safe. These two have to stay undercover, and try to figure out what they are feeling for each other as well.

Trace is an awesome character. He's a major alpha male who is capable of protecting those he cares about. And Priss is someone who hasn't had it easy growing up, and now she's out to make right some of the things that were wrong. These two are perfect for each other. They each have a fierceness to them, and major sexual chemistry as well. Also the ending of the book was perfect as well. it's setting up the next book perfectly! Now I can't wait to read the next book!

Loved this book, it was just as good as the first in the series 'when you Dare', really looking forward to next one.

I enjoyed the story line, the character's were so believable, Trace was still hurting from what had happened in the first book, and needed to make sure that those sort of people where taken down and Priss was looking to revenge what had happened to her mother.

I could not put this book down, and really enjoyed it.

Okay, so I did love the first book When you Dare because I totally loved Dare, but frankly, when I got to meet Trace I loved him even more...

Trace starts off just as exciting as Dare did and I have to give it to Lori Foster, she knows how to make a book good right from the beginning. I don't think there was one boring page in this little goodie... I get that some people maybe have problems with how Trace is acting during the the first pat down, or a few other times when he is acting as if he's the bad boy. They are men who walk the EDGE of honor for a reason... And I love them like hell for it. Like Dare Trace is amazing and handsome and sweet and lethal all the same. I know, I can get all excited over this book and it wouldn't bring on much info anyways because that book was just soooo intense!

It's tough in some places and incredibly sweet in others, but above all it's hot because Lori Foster manages to just put the right spin on every guy she writes and she makes the situations come over very realistic, making her book run like a movie through my head. I'm so terribly glad that I started this series... I already ordered all other books, too...

Just saying!

I love those guys and if you are into real man, you will, too!
