4.0 out of 5 starsMany Classic stories

Unfortunately I'd already read most of these stories but they were in the book for a reason - they're good. This is a 3 volume set of which this book is Vol. 1. I've ordered the other 2 as I liked this one - it had many of my favorite authors (like Bram Stoker) in it.
I gave it as a gift to my son so I have not seen the movie my self. He said he liked it, so I guess it was good. It is about vampires so I would think it had some violence, and sexual content, but cannot be sure.

I have the audio version and while the stories may be okay, the narrator has ZERO emotional inflection in his voice. There is NO VARIATION, but merely a passionless reading. No fear-inducing intensities that should accompany a vampire novel.

i reviewed this and read what i could of the first story. after words i went and found it and a few others of the stories in this book online for free to read in there entirty. i loved them all. this book has at least 3 very good stories in it. one of which is the first one. i plan on buying this as soon as iv saved enough money so i can read the rest of the stories. with the stories i read online that are in this book i am sure all its stories are great.

I've read halfway through this book and I'm not impressed. The blurb on the back cover is more exciting than the stories inside so far. The firs story Good Lady Ducayne was a long slow yarn or should I saw yawn? That I read a dozen pages then skipped to the last three. It was that bad.
Don't get me wrong, the writing is good but the stories and content so far are lacking in what the cover was promising. Scary and hungry the vampires are not. I might change my review by the time I finish the book but so far it's only mildly entertaining and not worth the cover price. Check find it as a library book but save your cash if you are looking for good vampire stories.
