As a former lobsterwoman, I was impressed with how well Donald Bain and "Jessica Fletcher" captured the real efforts and lifestyle of lobstermen in New England (save the violence). I do wish they had of paid a bit more attention to women in the profession, but I will admit there are few of us. (Maybe next time.) The joy of the book was the memories spent on the ocean, the smells, the work, the dirt which they brought to life again for me, with new charaters and a different focus. Always a page-turner, this is a lovely series. I regret not being a fan while the TV show was in production (too young), but I sure have enjoyed the re-runs and am thrilled with the publication of new stories in books I can savor.
I buy these books and ship them to my 92 year old Mother who enjoys reading them. She looks forward to getting them and has no worries they are used. I like the price and the fact I can have them sent to her.
I love these books. I have almost the complete collection. I love going to the used book store and on here to look for them. I love it when there is a good deal on here. I need to start coming back to stock up on some more so I can check off more on my list. They all came very quick and pkg'd well. I even remember a few emailing me letting me know that a few were shipped (from same place) and that was so nice of them to do that. my mail carrier was always on top of things so she would always make sure I was home before she left any pkg's, and would leave a note letting me know she would bring it tomorrow. She was the best had her for 15 yrs on the same route!! Nothing beats an actual book! even though I peek here and there at the kindle lol.
I loved this book! It’s a little different from his others because the murder doesn’t take place until a good ways into the book. I do love that it takes place in Maine & all the information about lobstermen.
