This review is primarily for Spanish teachers to see if this will work for their classes. I am reviewing the audible version of the book.
In this book Monica, Sergio, Guillermo, Laura, and Martin go with their class to Peru. The book covers about 4 days of the trip. Other students are introduced, such as Raul and Ana. The students are going to spend two days on the Camino del Inca. Monica convinces the guide to take the students to a newly discovered ruin. There they find evidence of tomb robbers. Of course they run into the robbers later and have an adventure.
The book is good at delivering cultural information about the road and cities. There is almost no information about Peruvian food, drink, or clothing. It would be good to get out a map if using in a classroom to help the students understand where the places are in relationship to one another.
A few things about the audible version. The reader had some differences in the voices of the characters. The chapters are not broken up at the tracks which is annoying. Some students will be bothered by the use of forms of "exclamar" while the students are hiding from the robbers and are supposed to be quiet. The authors should have used whispered in a few spots.
Potential negatives of the story are that the tomb robbers do have a rifle and fire it. No one is injured or killed by the rifle. No alcohol is mentioned. No drugs are mentioned. The only physical affection mentioned is hugging, no romantic kissing mentioned.
It held the attention of the listeners. Students wanted to find out what would happen next.
