I think this is Debbie Macomber at her best! The four main characters were different from each other but were realistic women whom you would like to have as friends. Each one changed and grew as the book developed. The idea of each one's expressing her thoughts and recording events from her point of view by writing in a journal helps the reader to identify with each character. Combining that technique with using some third person narration helped move the story line along, and it all worked beautifully.
This is the story of four women from diverse backgrounds and of different ages who meet in a class where they develop skills in journal writing, become friends and want to continue meeting on a regular basis. Consequently, Every Thursday at eight AM they meet for breakfast. Each woman's story is different, each is fascinating, and the reader will be rooting for each person as she faces her challenges just as the women in the book do for each other. It's a heartwarming book filled with love, joy, sorrow and romance. Another great read by Debbie Macomber!
