Another precious kitten story with endearing illustrations. I love these stories which return me to a sweet innocent world where getting a kitten of your own is a gift greater than diamonds to a child.
This one was a tough one to read to the kids. I thought that the behavior of the girl in the story was bratty. I didn't think her treatment towards the kitten was very kind, one minute affectionate, the next minute rejecting.I don't think too many parents would tolerate this behavior, no matter what the motive was behind it. Either she wants the kitten, or she doesn't, it's not fair to the kitten to be treated in such a passive aggressive way. I only hope the other books in this series show animals more respect than this one. If one doesn't believe that cats can't feel the vibrations you give off, they haven't spent too much time around them. However, the artwork was outstanding in this book, so they get 3 stars for that! "
I bought this book and two others in the series for my 8-year-old granddaughter because she is required to read 20 to 25 minutes each day for class. Heretofore she has viewed this reading requirement as a "chore," but with these books she is now actually enjoying her reading experience!
I would recommend this series to anyone who wants their children/grandchildren to get started off on the right foot in reading!
