Phenomenal! I learn so much from Jim Cymbala's books. I have almost all of them, and I read them one after another. It's so much more than a daily devotion. Cymbala steps on toes and cuts to the core. His books are a call to action. You can't stay the same, and more importantly than that, Cymbala's books leave me hungering after more of God. I cannot get enough--which is a fabulous place to be. When I read any book by Jim Cymbala, I feel like I am taking a bold step forward in my daily walk with Christ. We were made to thrive, not just survive. God has so much more in store for us...what a blessing!
I have read most of Jim Cymbala's books and have never been disappointed with one. This book is no exception. He has a way of getting right down to where you live and showing you the way out of your supposed difficulties. I highly recommend this book. Charles c. McCullough, Ph. D.
Jim Cymbala touches on many, if not all, of the issues that hold true Christians back from being used of God. It was good to be reminded about the Holy Spirit and his function in our lives, and that God is never far away.
Pastor Cymbala has a unique ability to capture the purpose that all people seek in their lives because of the dynamics of his church and ministry. All Christians need to read this book. Most of us fall into the clutches of the world. This book makes it clear that we are to live by a heavenly, eternity perspective. Yes, we were made for more.
This church and Pastor have been reaching out to New Yorkers for a very long time. God has placed something very precious with the Pastor. Excellent read. This is a book about people who have gone through what we all go through but have come out better people and much closer to God. A lesson for all of us.
This book was recommended since I'm teaching Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 & 2 Samuel nest year. I have read most of the book and plan to use illustrations and truths that Cymbala pulls out of these books. It has been challenging and encouraging, and I would have appreciated it even if I were not teaching these books next year.
