5.0 out of 5 starsMy first “Between” novel and a good one

I didn’t know whether I would like Diesel but he’s a solid, somewhat complex character. This novel still had bounty hunter at the center but the main story was in the Pine Barrens and really peculiar characters. Living in Texas, I thought of Terlingua which has its share of people who don’t want to be found. Stephanie was at her best, just a bit overwhelmed but still hanging on. Lula was there for some of the action, but decided she would rather not face the Jersey Devil. A good read with enough loose ends that come together well like most of Janet’s novels.

5.0 out of 5 starsMonkey Business Plum Style

This is the best of the "Between the Plums," or unnumbered Stephanie Plum books. I've never been a fan of Diesel, but he makes this story work. Stephanie gets stuck baby sitting a monkey, Carl, while his owner is on her honeymoon. When a dead man is discovered, Stephanie first must solve his murder to get her FTA, as the FTA was an employee of the murdered man, who was a partner to the man Diesel is after. Confused? Read the book and enjoy the ride through the backwoods of Trenton where men are trying to learn how to control the weather. More fun than a barrel of monkeys. Oh, and a barrel of monkeys are a big part of the book.
I'm home sick suffering from a bad asthma attack and this book almost killed me!!! There is always laughter involved in a Stephanie plum story, but this one hysterical. I had years running down my face! I don't know where Janet Evanovich gets these stories from, but I would love to have some of whatever she has as she writes them.
Have read this book before, but wanted to read it again. This writer is so entertaining and allows the reader to be a part of the visual effects. I'm sure my neighbors have heard me many times with my fierce belly-laughing at the way this writer puts together the most outrageous situations.
3.0 out of 5 starsAnother wild and crazy ride with Stephanie Plum

I enjoy reading these books because they are silly and they make me laugh. They break up the darkness of my psychological thrillers and Wartime stories. Definitely recommend this book to anyone who needs a little light reading with a couple of laughs.

I've been reading the Plum series on and off for years, recommended to me by my mom. She's a but more versatile in her genres than I am. (And she's a lot less snobby about it. I can admit I am a bit of a book snob, and romances are usually not my first pick.)
But the Plum series by Janet Evanovich is funny and easy to read. This particular book was no exception. The plot moves fast, it kept me interested the whole way through. It isn't fantastic literature, it wont make you cry or think about your life from a new perspective. But if you need a book to read on a long airplane ride, this and other Plum novels are a good choice.
I also recommend getting the first books in the series at the library. Save some money as you catch up. That's a lot of books to buy!
5.0 out of 5 starsMy fave Stephanie Plum adventure - Bigfoot, monkey, and all
Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2015
I enjoy the Stephanie Plum series, but this is my favorite. The crazy characters (Easter Bunny, Jersey Devil, Bigfoot!!) and the nuttier plot always amuse me. I even purchased an audio book in addition to the paperback just to hear Carl the monkey. Yes, I wrote 'monkey'. And who could resist Ernie the Fire Farter?
It's a wild ride and silly as anything but I recommend it to anyone looking for a fun read.
Have only recently discovered this lady and oh boy I have been binge buying/read the Stephanie Plum series. I have not stopped laughing out loud and on occasion have had to stop reading because I was crying with laughter. She is one amazingly funny/excellent Author and cannot wait for the next book in the series. Keep up the good work, I need your books to keep me sane.
Thank Janet Evanovitch you are my number one favourite author !!
5.0 out of 5 starsAn in between the numbers book about Stephanie Plum - bounty hunter.

Janet Evanovich never fails to disappoint in her books about Stephanie Plum and this is no exception. More mishaps, more thrills and still more surreal violence with Stephanie doing her usual getting into scrapes but still refusing to use a gun. And now she has Carl, the monkey, to look after and he also gets caught up in the action. A thoroughly good read and suitable, I think, for a wide variety of ages who want a good laugh as well as suspense!
Another gem from Janet, made me laugh out loud. If you have read any of Janets other books about stephanie plum the bounty hunter and her sidekick lula you will not be disapointed. Diesal is another potential love interest. Stephanie acquires a monkey who plays a key role in the story. In her usual style she manages to capture, loose and recapture her felons assisted by lula and co. Along the way she meets some spooky characters involved in scientific skulduggery, a good read.
