*Another excellent thriller by bestselling author Anne Stuart in book 4 of her "Ice" hit series. With plots and twists at every corner, this romantic suspense will grip you to the shocking conclusion. Each and every book in this series are must reads!.........As head of one of the most powerful mercenary covert organizations known as the "Committee", Madame Isobel Lambert was not only noted for being called "The Iron Maiden" or "The Ice Queen", but she took it upon herself to take on a special assignment, especially since her past was about to collide with her present life. It had been seventeen long years since she last seen him, a memory she would love to wipe from her brain for all eternity, but when she was personally requested by Killian himself, she was not only shocked beyond belief believing like always that she killed him all those years ago, but truth be told, she never wanted to see him ever again. Known to the universe of being the most dangerous man that ever lived, Killian couldn't believe he was about to see Isobel after all these years, and after she shot him and left him for dead, he always believed the girl who got away, would someday, reenter his life whether she knew it or not. Ordered to extract him and bring him to London, Isobel couldn't believe she was being confronted by the one man who was responsible for the deaths of thousands, a cold-blooded killer stained with invisible blood, a terrorist, a mercenary not to mention a war lord, and underneath all his calm exterior, he was the devil himself, but even worse, the only man who she not only loved and trusted with her soul nearly two decades ago, but she knew with a certainty back then, he was about to kill her if she didn't react like she did by killing him first. Realizing that Killian might want revenge by killing her now, Isobel was not only on her guard at all times ready to eliminate the one man who haunted her dreams for almost twenty years, but all thoughts of the past were soon forgotten when they find themselves being threatened with deadly force by unknown assailants threatening their lives at every corner they turn. As the deadly peril mounted nearly costing their lives, Isobel and Killian find solace in each other's arms once again, but little did they know that an old enemy was closer to home than they ever imagined by planning to rid the two of them by deadly intentions the moment they first set foot in London if it was the last thing the killer ever did before the night was over!........
5.0 out of 5 starsThis is an amazing series with the Committee head Mary Isobel being reunited with her enemy except she still loved Lillian and she was to bring him in so he could give them valuable intel. She had lived him eighteen years ago a d he had abandoned her. It was an amazing suspenseful action packed story as they solve the mystery of who was killing all the Committee operatives and wjy. The mystery of who Lillian actually was, a CIA agent was the best kept secret from Mary when she thought he was a mercenary. They actually got their happily ever after when they could not stay away from each other anymore. She quit the Committee because she could bare to kill another person and he quit the CIA to be with her. I cannot wait to read the next book in this fantastic mom stop romantic action series.

"But she had killed him once. She wouldn't hesitate to kill him again."
THE STORY: Isobel Lambert is the head of the Committee, a group based in Britain which attempts to thwart terrorist groups. Isobel is known as a sleek, cold, dangerous professional. She is reaching the limit of her tolerance of this life, however, and the young, vulnerable girl she was keeps showing through. Seventeen years ago, that young girl killed the man she spent two weeks in France with. Unknown to her, he survived and became the terrorist Serafin who makes a deal with her bosses at the Comnmittee. She has to save him and thus discovers that he is man she loved and hated and thought she had killed.
OPINION: I am a big fan of Stuart's anti-heroes who are always on the edge of being the villain. Here, Isobel and Killian are both anti-heroes of a sort. They are a danger to one another even as they rely upon one another to reach safety. Both are dark characters who have killed and live in a shadowy world. The moral line of what is right and wrong is complicated and blurry here. I especially liked the interweaving of the past and present stories such that secrets are revealed in the past which illuminate the present. Isobel and Killian are an interesting combination. The constant danger and lack of truth between them makes their story fascinating and complex. I also especially like the softening of Isobel without making her weak. She remains a professional and yet readers are allowed to see her deep caring for her comrades and eventually also for Killian. As a fan of the Ice series, I also really liked seeing past characters (I won't spoil who) and this time we get an update on their lives which was satisfying.
WORTH MENTIONING: Reno!
FINAL DECISION: The story of two people who both lead deadly lives, I loved how the book is romantic and yet not at all sentimental. I loved the interactions between Isobel and Killian.
CONNECTED BOOKS: ICE STORM is the fourth book in the Ice series. It can be read as a standalone although I think because it deals with and includes characters from the entire series, it will be better appreciated when read after the other books of the series.

A good read. I liked how it showed you the backstory to the main characters` relationship and I like how the story had characters from the previous books in it, it was good to see what had become of them all. The relationship with Mahmoud was sweet too. However, I didn't enjoy this as much as the others in the series.
What else can I say about Anne Stuart ... Her stories and characters have got right into my blood. The first book I read of her was Into the Fire and I remember I was desperate at the time to find another author I could feel some kind of connection with. After the first three pages I knew the search was over for the time being. As for this book, maybe Isobel was too much vulnerable for the role she was meant to play in the story; here and there she looked too much as a helpless woman giving Killian the upper hand. The other thing that disappointed me a little was that Peter and Bastien seemed so different from how they appeared in the story dedicated to them, perhaps to make Killian personality stand out… And indeed he has been amazing, as many of her heroes. So deliciously bad. Too good to be true!!!

Beaucoup d'action.
2.0 out of 5 starsRead the others in the series first.

This is the fourth in the Ice series and it is the weakest. It is about Isobel who has to work with Serafin a mercenary and assassin. Unfortunately, he is the same man she shot and left for dead many years ago. The heroine is not sympathetically portrayed and the story fluctuates between current events and eighteen years ago when the protagonists first met. It is also quite predictable. However, if you like Gamma heroes then this series is definitely for you! (If you like hearts and flowers romance it is not.) Her heroes, and the heroine of this book, work for a shadowy mercenary agency and they don't mind getting their hands dirty. They start off unemotional and dangerous and they haven't mellowed much by the end! "Black Ice" the first is great and the reader's uncertainty in the dangerous hero is unusual, "Cold as Ice" and "Ice Blue" very good and I would recommend all of them but I was disappointed by this one and it isn't a keeper.
