I thought this episode in the Jonathan Stride series was very ordinary. There was really nothing special to the ending
and even an amateur like me could figure out who "dunnit." I was quite impressed with the first 2 in the series and also the 4th book. I am presently reading number 5. For some reason, Freeman in number 3 does not seem to be interested in writing a tense novel, although his writing style is always excellent. I was disappointed in this but #4 was much better in terms of plot and even a little twist at the very end of the novel.
