From the first page, it was one that I could barely put down (but life called for reality). I wasn't expecting this to grab and hold my attention like it did, based on the first two of the BPD & FBI stories in this series. The surprises and suspense held me all through the book too. I would highly recommend this if you like contemporary romance fiction with crime drama interlaced. Now reading book #4 and so far is almost as enjoyable as the rest of the series.
I was disappointed in this book. I did like the main character, Lizzie, and her love interest Will was appealing, but there was only the slightest nod towards romance. More frustrating was the constant backstory; it was difficult to tell where this book's plot was going because so much of the story was spent in describing secondary characters' situations from previous books. I agree that it was difficult to keep the characters straight, and I've read the previous books. Ireland was well pictured, but that could not save this book from being a confusing, unromantic snooze.
I enjoy the way this author writes and the mysteries are interesting. There are a number of recurring characters in this Irish series which are well-developed, but, with each book more people are added and my only complaint with this book is that sometimes I had trouble keeping them all straight.
The story continues (from The Widow). It just keeps getting better. The mystery of what is going on keeps you guessing, but also interested. The twists and turns never end. Once you start this series you can't wait to read the next. The connection between these friends make them a family. You will love it.

I'm SO sorry I've come to the end of another great novel by Carla Neggers. This third of the Ireland Series is as entertaining a read as its predecessors. I hope more books involving these interesting characters will be forthcoming. I'd REALLY like to know about the baby. Keep writing please, I love these books.

I have finished THE MIST, and am reading THE WHISPER. Following the Ireland series is so interesting, it is difficult to quit reading when I have to go to work at the senior center. I am totally enjoying it all.
