Elizabeth Polk sets the stage in the Bottom Dollar Emporium in Cayboo Creek, South Carolina, where she works with two of her friends. Elizabeth finds herself in an unlikely romance after a break up, soon to learn that like books, the old adage of not judging a book by its cover applies very much to her new love interest. Get ready for a very different type of read, filled with odd-ball quirks by all of the characters.
I particularly enjoyed the southern colloquialisms at the beginning of each chapter. It wasn't unusual for me to laugh out loud and share it with my husband.
The one thing I found a little off-putting, was the extreme portrayal of the south...to the point of some characters feeling way off center to the mannerisms in small southern towns. Being a southerner myself, at times, it felt over exaggerated. But, the book does redeem itself enough that I continued with the series and enjoyed them all.
