I have to respectfully disagree with many of the reviewers who gave this book one or two stars, but they do make some valid points. Number 1: the typos and the grammatical errors, some of them left me scratching my head too. Number 2: Lack of maps - definitely. Number 3: overuse of comparison to American Civil War.
That said, the book is not atrocious. As someone who wanted to learn more about this important campaign, and had yet find any single definitive source, it provided me with a very good overview. The writing can be a bit florid at times but it tells its story in an entertaining way. There are not a blizzard of names, units, and places on every page. There is no minute detail. For all the people that have read more detailed accounts of the battle, there probably is nothing new here, but it provides a good single source for starters or for people who want an overview of the campaign.
