I am not a really big fan of Politics not because i think politicians are bad but more of the fact that i don't understand the political jargon being used by most politicians. So i always get lost in the conversations and the big debate. However this book helps me put into perspectives as to where certain political ideologies came from, how they emerged and who started spreading the idea. The etymological understanding of political terms as well as the context in which they came about is well explained in that book. The book is well organized and provides definitions of many terms which could be useful in case you get into a political debate with your friends. This book would be very useful for students who wants to major in political science and have a sound understanding of how politics work. I really like the sections of the two world wars. The author really nailed it especially by introducing certain topics without being too succinct or too fancy with the wording. All in all, I would definitely recommend this book to my friends whom are political science majors. I have come across some things that might seem to be offensive according to certain people but one could always argue that the author is not doing anything but stating the facts. In conclusion, this is a great read and anyone could definitely enjoy this book.
Excellent source for anything relating to not just politics but also includes history, wars, policies, leaders, and values. This would make an ideal companion book to history books in schools, as this would give a broader picture of our past. It also would make an excellent handbook for reference to keep on hand since it is laid out in alphabetical order allowing anyone to find a particular topic in a matter of minutes. This book definitely adds some topics that history books often leave out. I would recommend this to everyone’s bookshelf as not only an intriguing read, but for reference as well.
I was reimbursed for the cost of this book to give an honest and unbiased review.
This book offers a nice survey of general world political events, influential leaders, and significant revolutions. Of course, it is impossible to be too in depth across such broad topics in one volume. Not content to stop there, the book also addresses current political policies such as separation of church and state, liberalism and radicalism. Set in an alphabetical sequence, letter J covers: Jacobins, Jesus, and Justice while letter V offers Violence and Virtue. While I don't fully understand the criteria used to choose the topics, I do think this is a good book for someone who wants a general survey of world political movements. The book does not progress through chronological order, a format that would have been a plus, I think. However, it is not difficult to locate topics and the material offered seems truly historical and objective rather than subtle and subjective. I did receive this book free in exchange for my fair and unbiased review.
With the political atmosphere heating up this book is the right book at the right time. Very comprehensive and detailed. It covers every topic conceivable and some I didn't expect. I took a political science class years ago and didn't get half the information I got when reading this book. It's written in a way that captures your attention and is captivating. I had a lot of fun reading and learning not only the history of politics but also how it plays into the present. Usually I find political books boring, but this one is easy to read and full of great information. This is definitely a must read for anyone who has even a slight interest in politics. I received this for free in exchange for my honest unbiased review. I am so happy I took the time to read this book. Definitely enriched my knowledge of politics.
I enjoyed this book as a reference "go to " book. Not really a story, more like a dictionary. Great book for high school students, to help them understand Politics, and all the things that politics affects. It is written with a lot of further references that the reader can go to, to find out more about each topic that is discussed. I would use as a wonderful reference book, but not as a story. Again, more like a dictionary. I received this product for free, for my honest and unbiased review.
I found this book to be interesting. I usually don't follow politics but this book had me wanting to understand more. It's a quick and easy to read reference from A to Z. I do highly recommend it to anyone wanting a little more knowledge. I really enjoy having on Ebook because I like having the option of it right there with me at all times in case I ever need to refreshes my knowledge. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Politics from A to Z should be named History from A to Z. I found this book fascinating. I learned more from this book than my 4 years in high school. I loved how it had loads of information about each subject letter but not chapters and chapters of it. It gave great info without having to read a whole encyclopedia. It had everyone from Jesus to Hitler and anything and everything in between. It covers it all. My only regret is that I wish I had gotten the actual book and not the digital copy. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
What a great read. Easy, even for grade schoolers. It offers a political (and some religious) leader breakdown from Absolutism to Zionism. Each World politician listed has a few paragraphs and overview of what stand is / was taken. References to various wars, appropriate countries and basic layout of what it stands for. /This would be a fabulous book for 7/8 graders - with easy references, and not a lot of memorizing. Basic and informative!
