4.0 out of 5 stars Lacks the Suspense and Focus of Earlier Jack Turner Books But Still a Good Read

1) Why I chose this book : Really enjoyed the characters and WW2 historical references from first two books of the series
2) Any course language present : Nary an f-word or a sh-word making this all about the plot which is a good thing
3) Type of book : Wartime romance more mystery than suspense
4) Formatting/Editing : One of the better self-published authors
5) Best/Worst aspect of book : Liked the WW2 references regarding how the Spitfires were designed in Southampton, mention of the Miles Master trainer aircraft, Welrod pistol and the like tho wish focus was more on the original characters from the first two books of the series
6) Favorite Passage : "You Yanks and your coffee." "You Brits and your tea." (Gonna be sailing out of Southampton on our Norwegian cruise soon and what with largely British passengers on board I suspect am hoping to 'fit in' so planning on coffee for breakfast and hot tea for lunch.)
7) Bottom-line : Enough action toward the close making for a good finish, and would read others if published provided Jack Turner makes more of an appearance in the future

Since I have read Dan's previous Jack Turner suspense novels, I knew this one would be very suspenseful and exciting. I literally could not put it down! I started reading last evening, stayed up very late, and resumed reading today right after church, finishing a few minutes ago (5:30 p.m.). To say that this book met my expectations would be an understatement. Dan is a very gifted writer who weaves personalities, storylines and events so well that the reader becomes a part of the story. He is without a doubt my favorite writer! Can't wait for the next book in this series!

5.0 out of 5 stars I think this is the best one yet!

I've read all 3 of Dan Walsh's Jack Turner Suspense series. I've loved each of them and this is the best yet. I am amazed at how well Walsh is able to craft action scenes. This is a difficult skill to master and he truly has it down to an art. The characters come alive and tell stories of love, war, and history so eloquently. His books are inspirational and at the same time, aren't "preachy." I love that the books are clean, yet tell a great romance story. Even though this is a series, each of the books is completely unique and can stand on its own. Buy Unintended Consequences today!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for male readers and gals. Dan Walsh is SUCH a good writer!

Book 3 in the Jack Turner Suspense series is even better than the first two! I'm a real fan of WWII historical fiction, and that is really what UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES really is, in my opinion. Modernday Jack and Rachel have just married and are on their honeymoon. They stop over briefly to visit his 94-year-old grandmother. Rachel hears a WWII romantic, exciting--even thrilling story of mystery, destiny, and danger. Male readers will thoroughly enjoy this as much as gals. It includes RAF/Luftwaffe dog fights! Lots of action! Dan Walsh is such a good writer. The dialogue flows smoothly and realistically, and my favorite thing: he ties all loose ends up neatly with a bow. Yes, he writes "series," but he doesn't force you to buy the next one by leaving you hanging. Each can be read as a standalone if desired, but if you do you're missing out! This is a super-good series, and I'm into the most recent Book 4 already!

5.0 out of 5 stars I HAVE YET TO READ A DAN WALSH BOOM I DIDN'T LOVE!!!!

And this is another hit!!!! I love series because you really get to know the people and feel as if they are your friends! This is an excellent example of this. In book 1 we meet Jack Turner and during his adventures he meets Rachel. In book 2 we watch their relationship grow into marriage. Book 3 finds them on their honeymoon and together with Rachel, his grandmother tells us the exciting story of Jacks war hero grandfather!! He was truly exciting, as was his grandmother!! You will set breathless as it teaches us world history. It truly comes alive and you feel as though you were going thru the war with Jack (the grandfather) and Renee as their relationship grows, as Jack finds a brother he didn't know he had, and as the win against the Nazis!! You won't want to put it down!!!!
You will throughly enjoy this one if you haven't read books 1 & 2, however, you will enjoy it more if you read those first!!! What a great excuse to buy more books!!!! You won't be disappointed!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Historical romance - fascinating

There's just something undefinable about Dan Walsh's writing that is absolutely spellbinding. The man really knows how to spin a yarn. This is a World War II romance with all the tension you expect from (a) Dan Walsh and (b) a great WWII novel. Definitely five stars.

Unintended Consequences doesn't begin in the 1940s. No, it starts out in a present-day honeymoon of Jack Turner and his bride, Rachel. He takes her to see his grandmother, Rene'e, who had married Jack's fighter-pilot grandfather, also named Jack Turner. Trouble is, right in the middle of his introduction of his new bride to his old grandmother he receives a call that requires him to leave them.

Not too bad a problem. His grandmother agrees to tell Rachel about her own romance while he is gone. You can hear it too if you buy the book.

I received a free copy of the book from Bookbub.com, but my opinions are always my own.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed Feelings

I wish I could give this book a five-star rating, but I can't. While it is generally well-written, it is rife with grammatical errors, syntax errors, typos, and sentence structure errors, which flow ever worse as the book progresses. Additionally, for the major portion of this book set during World War II, the author uses many late-20th- and even 21st-century idioms in 1940s conversations. Dan Walsh is such a good storyteller that I am always eager to read his books; however, I'm always disappointed by the glaring lack of competent copyediting.

I couldn’t put down this historical novel filled with action, suspense and the riches of life that matter the most. Some books I’ve read in this genre can be too contrived or give a lecture - but I really enjoyed this one. The characters were engaging, authentic and the reader experiences the historical setting through the characters. The story unfolds at an easy and progressive pace, and it comes to the final page too soon. It holds a lot without getting bogged down in details. Dan Walsh is on my list of favourite authors now, I’m glad to know he has published many books for me to enjoy.

3.0 out of 5 stars 5 star story, but I can only give it 3 stars

So sad, this is a 5 start book, but I can only give it 3 stars! Why you may ask.
Dan Walsh is a brilliant writer and has the ability to create great characters and plot.
This is the 3rd book in the series and was a pleasure to read.... until..... the blatant and poorly placed product placement. Dan has tried poorly to work in to the plot about how amazing amazon is, because they will deliver jewellery on a Sunday. It almost seems as if he was doing this to try and improve his seo for amazon.
If it wasn't for this bizarre and out of place product placement, this would be a 5 star read.

Dan - I will read your next book, but I really hope that it doesn't have the sad product placement.
