My husband and I just binged the entire Roswell TV series (1999). When I discovered it was based on a book series, I had to give the book a try. Umm… this is one of the very few times that I think the show was better than the movie. (And really, the show was just okay.)
I'm sure there are people who loved this, but for me the writing fell flat, the characters had no personality. If I'd read the book first, I probably wouldn't have watched the series. Great concept, but the writing just wasn't up to what I like in books.
But that's not the worst part. I got the ebook from Amazon and it's from Simon and Schuster. A big publisher who ought to at least have someone capable coding and proofing their ebooks, right? IT WAS A MESS!! There was code showing up because they forgot to put in the start and end characters. Words that were supposed to end in 's, only had the '. Missing words, weird or no paragraph breaks. And the book has been out 10 years. It's hard to believe that a national publisher would not have cleaned up their ebooks.
If you really like YA contemporary alien stories, it's inexpensive so give it a try. Maybe you'll like it more than I did. But be warned about the ebook.
