Julie totally threw me off with this story in the best of ways! We first meet Belinda Baker in Bossy Brothers - Alonzo and learn that she and Tony have quite a past. There was a lot of tension between them in Alonzo's story so I was dying to see what was gonna happen with them. Was it going to be all "I really hate you!" but they really love each other and are too stubborn to admit it until someone basically slaps them upside the head? Or was it a case of the reader not having the whole story just yet about Belinda being sent away eight years ago? With Julie, any number of things could happen!
The first thing that was different about this book was this really isn't a story that focuses on just Tony and Belinda. It focuses on Tony and Belinda, but also Vann Vaughn and Soshee Ameci. The question was, who was supposed to end up with who?
It was so much fun being back in Fort Collins! If you've read Julie's Rook and Ronin series, you will be well acquainted with the town and Sick Boyz tattoos and the Vaughn family. If you haven't been in that world yet, I highly recommend hunkering down and binge reading that series. They take place before the events in Bossy Tony and I loved the little snippets that Julie wove through Tony and Belinda's story that just made me so nostalgic that I feel a re-read coming on!
There's twists and turns galore in this story, and a lot of things get revealed that made me do a double take. It also sets up a lot of things for the next book, which I'm dying for right now!! I honestly don't know how Julie keeps everything straight in these books. There's connections galore to her other series' that long time readers will pick up on and delight in, but she's written them in such a way that new readers will not be confused or feel like they're missing anything. I am just having so much fun reading all of these Bossy books!
As far as Tony and Belinda? I was completely surprised at how their stories turned out. But very happy for both of them. I closed this book with a huge smile on my face, rubbing my hands together in anticipation for what's going to happen next!
