When a book or series is good, you find yourself willing to continue reading. When a book or series is very good, you find yourself eager and drawn in to read more. But, when a book or series is awesome, you stay up late at night reading, read over lunch hour, forsake watching TV, and ignore your spouse and kids in order to finish. That’s how I’d describe JA Andrew’s The Keeper Chronicles (and the prequel series, The Keeper Origins).
Unlike many fantasy books where the characters mimic unbelievable superheroes with god-like magical powers, Andrew’s characters are someone you might meet any day. And refreshingly enough magic, though integral to the story, isn’t a central character in and of itself but a background element woven as a gold thread in a tapestry.
In fact, the magic is actually in the way Andrew’s weaves the twists and turns of the journeys her characters are on. And as with any good story (just ask Will from The Pursuit of Shadows), you’ll find yourself drawn in before you know it.
So come to Tallus and Queensland. Wander with Will. Share in Aleric’s desperation; Sini’s frustration. And maybe find you have something in common with the Keepers.
