The changes that Riley has experienced in a matter of only a couple years are more than most will go through in a lifetime. Constantly having to change direction as enemies can be everywhere and anywhere. She started out with a simple enough plan: get out, break away from her mother, her life. Get the money from the service and live in luxury. But, she has learned that it's all a lie. She and everyone else has been played, and too many are paying the ultimate price. She's gone from soldier to an unlikely Volunteer, and now designated a Terrorist. But is she? What has she really done but question things. Is that all it takes? The simple act of questioning those in charge? That's not what she signed up for. That life of luxury is false. She can't live like that while others are stuck in the lie. She's done and she's changing the world or going to die trying.
Do not miss these! The author understands human nature at the level of a PhD psychologist. We are privy to the fears, torments, loves, and innermost joys of the characters. The story is non-stop action. There is no complacency in her writing. The story goes places you never imagined. The story never crawls; it advances by leaps and bounds in the most unexpected ways. So satisfying! So satisfying

I've read all books by Cantwell but hesitated on this series, didn't seem to be what may interest me. I was wrong, the storyline is unique and I have emotions for the characters. I'm hoping Riley and Alex end up together. Can't wait to find out
5.0 out of 5 starsBy far my favorite in the series!!

I chose to review this book unlike the other two. Sorry, I don't really write many reviews. I believe this one deserves it though! Riley Taylor was pretty unimpressive in the first two books. She was a whiny impetuous child. Her back and forth really grates on ones nerves, plus the backdrop of the service gets old rather quickly. This book however, is different. The trials and tribulations she faces head on are great for anyone who loves adrenaline. I was on the edge of my seat for the majority of this book. She sacrifices a lot and grows a lot as a character through out this installment. I am upset that I have to wait months for the next, but that is something I can't change. Hats off to the author for really raising the bar in this installment!
