This latest entry in the 4 horsmemen universe is one of the best. It reads like an old friend.

I really enjoyed the book and the tales. Reading of how the Legend gets in and out of crazy situations is a lot of fun. There is lots of humor in the book.

This was an enjoyable book. Situated about twenty plus years before the current goings on in the Four Horseman Universe, this story covers the early days of the human mercenary effort when the original Four Horsemen still were on the scene. Great characters, tons of action, and a well-written story made this one another win in the Four Horseman Universe series. Haven't run across a bad book yet, and this one is very good, and I do highly recommend it. My only compliant was that the ending came extremely abruptly, don't know if that means there is another book by Christopher Woods coming to continue on with Legend, or if that was it. Guess we'll have to see.

Very cool series. Fast moving, convincing universe, space opera fun, finest pulp fiction in the market. I am really enjoying the horsemen universe. Good aliens, good action. It is really just a good Mil-Sci re-hash of 1950s style space force stuff. Only better written.

Good way to while away a couple of hours. I think I have the whole series so far, and am hanging out for more.

If you want "serious" "message" hugo bait sci-fi, you may want to look elsewhere. If however massive destruction, alien mercenaries, and cool space battles, then come right in....

I don't expect much from military science fiction - when you've read one, you've read 'em all - and the mercenary trope is way over used. But Legends was, despite its lack or originality, surprisingly likeable. The author paints a multi-species universe where even the bad guys, if not likeable, are at least understandable, and where you get a feeling where each species is distinctly drawn. The banter between the squad is really good, and sometimes very funny and even though the action sequences are not exactly David Drake, the plot moves along well enough.
