3.0 out of 5 stars Not really a nice guy

So Sara Ney is pretty hit or miss for me. I loved The Learning Hours, Jock Rule, and Jock Row. But this one seriously missed the mark for me. Long story short, Noah is so self conscious about his looks and status, that he never stops to think about his actions will affect Miranda and causes her a lot of pain. I fail to see any reason why she would want to keep pursuing the relationship.

*Spoilers*
For starters, the premise was almost exactly like The Lying Hours. Guy and girl are messaging, but when it comes time to meet in person, he sends his jerk friend in his place (though the reasoning differs). Noah fessed up a lot faster than Abraham did but still didn't tell Miranda the whole truth. THEN he takes her out on a date in public without warning her, "Oh hey, I'm a pretty famous baseball player and will likely garner some unwanted attention while we're out." He was so worried about protecting himself. It felt like he never bothered to stop and consider her feelings and how his actions might affect her. So she's caught completely off-guard. And then, when online trolls are mean to her, predictably, he ghosts her. And everyone's all, ooooh, he's sensitive, you'll have to pursue him. Not once did he give Miranda a reason to fight for him besides being fun to talk to. Pretty sure she could have found someone else.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVED THIS STORY!

I loved Noah and Miranda’s story and I’m pumped that it’s just the beginning of a new series for Sara Ney.

Noah is a professional baseball player with low self-esteem. Ever since he burst onto the spotlight, he’s been told whether to his face or by the tabloids that he’s unattractive. He likes to stay in the shadows and not draw attention to himself off of the field.

Miranda is a no-nonsense kind of girl, and she’s selling off some exceedingly rare baseball cards in order to kick start her life. When Noah offers to buy the cards, she never would have guessed what would unfold in the days thereafter. Miranda doesn’t realize who Noah is, and he’s fine to keep it that way. Until one chance encounter changes everything.

This was super quick and fun read. The steam was on POINT, and the characters are out of this world hilarious. I loved the back and forth between Miranda and Noah, as well as Buzz and Noah. That’s what I can always count on from Sara Ney, a book that makes me laugh out loud and amazing characters! I’m super excited that this is the beginning of something new from her!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed and annoyed.

I want to start out that I usually love Sara ney's books. I find them funny and refreshing. This one seems like a book she already wrote.

This might contain spoilers for some.
I couldnt stand the hero, he talks about how ugly he is and his low self esteem is so bad it's unattractive. He is actually very rude to the h. I have no idea why the h even acknowledges the H after the club. There was no real moment for them, I couldn't get into their "love" story. It was boring and forced and not worth buying.

The main point that really ruined it for me is when he is forced to take her on a date and sees her dressed up and he thinks to himself that she's pretty and not beautiful and he can't tell her that because girls are weird and freak out.

Just.no.

I just can't with this book. It's a disappointment from an author I usually enjoy

A shy, athletic hero who isn't a douche? Sign me up!

Noah is the perfect book boyfriend. He is sweet, funny, athletic, shy, naughty. He is also vulnerable and unsure of himself.

Noah, unlike most of the athletes around him, just wants to play the game. He loves playing. What he doesn't like? Everything that comes with it. Yea, the money is nice. But he would rather live closer to his mama and his real friends and not be used for what he has. As such, he has a reputation for being a bit of a recluse. Only leaving the house when absolutely necessary or when his teammates drag him out. The years of being laughed at and told his face is unattractive have left him wary of women and their motives.

Miranda is just out of college and in need of startup capital for her new business. Though it breaks her heart to do so, she has decided to sell her grandfather's baseball card collection.

Noah, as a serious baseball memorabilia collector, contacts her about a rare card she has for sale. Their banter is adorable - both behind the screen and in person. And when they meet for the first time? I couldn't stop smiling!

This book also introduces a number of entertaining side characters, and I am looking forward to a couple of them being knocked on their rear! (I'm looking at you Trace!)

Hard Pass is the perfect, quick and light hearted read for those who love their athletes shy and funny, and who know that what is beneath the wrapping will always matter more!

This is definitely a Hard Pass for me, least favorite of all her novels. This one feels more like a chore than actual thought put in it. Short, no real character development. Her first novels Def had me hooked, these last few have been a let down.

Sara Ney has once again knocked it out of the park with this sweet, funny, addicting romance.

As always, her characters are real which makes them more endearing and relatable, who hasn’t felt insecure about rejection in their past?, but they are also never quite what you expect.

As soon as you hear ‘famous sports star’ you would never expect Noah, a painfully shy man who was so hurt by the words spoken the morning after his last one night stand, that he is afraid to try again, for fear of rejection. Oh how the tables have turned! I adored Noah, though his lack of communication at times, was annoying, I understood why and fell more in love with him as every insecurity was revealed.

Miranda was perfect, not the usual baseball groupie, she meets Noah online selling her beloved grandfather’s baseball cards to fund her new business, and although they haven’t met face to face, the connection is there immediately. Sadly when the time comes, Noah isn’t quite sure he’s ready for Miranda to meet the real him.

This book knocked me on my backside with its ups and down, laughter, heartbreak and so much more. I devoured it in just a few short hours, and wished I’d taken it slower, so I could savour it longer. Amazing.
