4.0 out of 5 stars I Really Enjoyed This Second Chance Romance

Thank you, Katie Ashley, for writing a light, entertaining read. This girl found it refreshing not to be slammed with so much angst it would make my head spin, especially with the topic at hand.

Was Declan a p**** for jilting her? Yes. Absolutely. But they were 20 years old. Just babies. And a decade had moved on. Both parties dated and had sex with other people (a HUGE thank you to Ms. Ashley, for not making our heroine celibate!). Girl power and all that. There was no reason to make things contrived and stressful. I loved that Declan came in as a flirty ex, who knew he f***** up.

As for OW drama, there was another woman a year or two before Peyton came back in the picture. BUT NO DRAMA FROM HER. Declan is a single dad. A great dad, who had the cutest little boy 6 years after the wedding fiasco. The author could have built so much contrived drama around this. Thank god she didn't. Made me like our MCs that much more.

And Peyton, I loved her spitfire attitude. She gave Declan s*** and didn't let him off easy.

I loved that there were some oh my god, did she really go there moments, some laugh out loud moments, some sad ones, and some are you fricken kidding me ones. Reining Her In was exactly what I needed after 5 overbearing, alpha male Gideon Cross books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute second chance romance

This quite honestly has to be one of the cutest second chance stories I’ve ever read. Ten years have passed since Declan left Peyton at the altar. They both say they have moved on, but have they really? Peyton finds herself coming back home 10 years after Declan left her. She is now an accomplished vet and is taking over her grandfather’s practice. Declan happens to be divorcing his cheating wife. With Peyton back in town and both being single, sparks start to fly quickly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Peyton and Declan are funny, but perfect for one another !

Reining Her In focuses on the story of Peyton and Declan who grew up in a small town and fell in love. He ends up leaving her at the altar on their wedding day and she flees the town. Ten years later she’s back, but is she ready to come face to face with the man who broke her heart?

This Story perfectly describes how individuals grow in every aspect of their life as they get older. Declan is not the same man who left Peyton at the altar ten years ago and it takes a while for her to see that. He’s still the same person, but he’s matured and learned from his past.

I loved how Relatable this book was for anyone who has every experienced a loss or even gone through a bad break up. Personally, I really connected with Peyton, especially after losing. My own grandfather and I think the author portrays her emotions in such a real way that the reader just gets it. Peyton and Declan are perfect for one another and i think this story really talks about strength and what it takes to keep going when life knocks you down.

I will say I did feel like at parts their relationship moved really really fast. I wish there was more time taken for us to see them really work through their issues before getting engaged. I think Peyton has a lot of issues at Declan’s house for the first time and I would’ve loved to seen those explored more since they weren’t. Putting yourself in Peyton’s shoes, it’s normal to compare yourself to an ex-wife, but I wish that conversation was something we are privy to so we can see them grow in their relationship. I think the same can be said for telling the families & even the part about talking with Declan’s child about how he feels about it. I think one thing the author could look into for future reference is maybe also telling a story from the second characters perspective. There’s still so much we don’t know about Declan and his marriage. I think hearing about it or even hearing his thoughts about everything could really have brought this book to another dimension.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing second chance story...my heart and soul.

Another phenomenal book by this fantastic author. This story about second chance love was full of passion, heart break, laughter and healing. The characters were extremely lovable, and I couldn’t get enough of them. Don’t get me started on how adorable Cameron was and how he talked to Moose and his tractors; I just wanted to snuggle all day long with him.

Too sappy and somewhat unbelievable! Ten years ago he rips her heart out by leaving her at the alter with no explanation and then she just pretty much let's him back in with little to no groveling? Yeah? NO!

I enjoyed the book. Looking forward to reading it again so I can understand a few of the reasons Declan had for jilting Sarah. Her family support was real, but he was selfish and only looked out for himself...or did he. Really good read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quick and easy read

This is a very easy and short read. It seemed to end before anything really started, I was expecting more angst or drama, especially with the kids mother. It's not a bad book, just not much depth or character development.
