I have to say that this is one of the better Deathlands books that I have read in a long time. One is that it has introduced several; new plot twists that promise to have implications in later stories such as the brief jump to a redoubt that had "unusually light gravity" and the fact that there were people waiting there for them when they go there. This is the first full story with Ryan's son Dean and an earlier character makes a reappearance. There is actually so much action going on in this story that the usual baron and sec men that the crew have to deal with come off as more of a side show and the reader is left wondering what the future holds for the group. That being said the Baron in this one as well as his sec men are not the usually run of the mill adversaries as a matter of fact that are actually half way decent by Deathlands standards. But alas, the true power lies behind the throne and he is just as depraved as one has come to expect from this series. If you are new to this series this is NOT the book that you want to start with as it mentions a lot of what has happened in previous books so you will want to go backing the series and get caught up on the backstory but when you do you will be rewarded with a really good story when you get to this one.

some times other people will write for Mr. Axler and he would put his name to the book just so others can get there feet wet if you know what I mean. the last person was so bad for me I just stopped reading the books. They had the people in the book saying and doing things that was out of caricature.
THIS AGAIN IS ANOTHER GREAT TALE I WAS ABLE TO PROCURE THROUGH AMAZON.COM. THE STORY STARTS WITH THE GROUPS ESCAPE FROM Newyork AND BRINGS THEM TO A REDOUBT HIDDEN IN FLORIDA'S GREENGLADES AMUSEMENT PARK. THEY FIND THAT THE PARK HAS BEEN RESTORED BY BOSS BARON LARRY ZEPP, A FOE FROM RYAN AND J.B. DIX'S DAYS WITH THE TRADER. THEIR MAIN ADVERSARY IN THE STORY IS ADAM TRAVEN, A CHARLIE MANSON TYPE DRUG DEALER WHO CONTROLS ZEPP WITH A DRUG CALLED DREEM.THE PART I REALLY ENJOY IN THE BOOK IS THE FACT THAT THE ARMORY IN THE REDOUBT IS STOCKED AND IT'S WHERE THEY FIRST COME ACROSS SOME OF THEIR SIGNATURE WEAPONS, NAMELEY RYAN 'S STEYR RIFLE AND J.B.'S SMITH AND WESSON M-4OOO. ANOTHER CLASSIC!
Ryan and his friends(and new son) drop striaght into a power vacum. Ryan doesn't really care who comes out on top untill the main leader of one of the two factions Adam Taylor takes an..unhelthy intrest in Dean. Now all Ryan has to do is kill Adam and the other jolted out Baron named Larry Zep. You know Ryan can do it, I mean after all this is Deathlands.
