5.0 out of 5 starsPowerful, Straightforward

I have been a fan of Richard’s writing for many years. I must say though, this is probably his best book. It is timely it is urgent it is uncompromisingly straightforward. Every time I read Richard my faith deepens. I originally ordered this as an audible title But I am now going to order the book as well. I cannot recommend him enough Especially if you are a person who questions central tenants of the various Christian religions. Richard, who is a Franciscan monk, nonetheless calls out what needs to be called out as it relates to our Christian faith. I just love his work and I’m so grateful to have found his work
5.0 out of 5 starsDeep, and deeply relevant to today

Richard Rohr, in my opinion, is the prophet of our time. His universal vision of Christianity restores the original mystical spark on which it was founded. He combines deep spirituality with Jungian psychoanalysis to bring us help, comfort and inspiration in these difficult days. Although this book was written in 2001, he has revised it so that is completely relevant to what we are going through as a society today. For those whose Christianity might be feeling tired and formulaic, this book will give you a shot in the arm. I have read many of his books, but this one has a greater depth than many. I cannot recommend this book highly enough, and I encourage reading his other books too, in particular Falling Upward and Immortal Diamond. He restores Jesus's original place in Christianity, as the template for all of humanity.
Such a blessing to have Richard with all his wisdom and experience write this timely book. He addresses the big (and often unpopular and unspoken) topics head on, and leaves the reader with much greater hope. I believe this book is needed now more than ever and will help lead us back to the truth.
If you want to know the secret of life, read this book. Father Rohr skillfully journeys you through the pattern of construction, deconstruction , and reconstruction without fear. Faith in God is the key so we don't hold on to false symbols of security. The only criticism I have is the horrible font used for italics. I had to grab magnified glasses in order to read it.
