5.0 out of 5 starsA Guide to Living, Loving and Learning

"Uniquely You" is an honest, sometimes painful, sometimes inspirational book about being human, which is no easy task.
The author, Ron Kitchens, encourages us to be forever seeking knowledge and forever compassionate about serving others. Along the way, he tells some gut-wrenching, and sometimes uplifting stories that reveals that we can all find a better path that is uniquely ours if we are willing to truly live, learn and love.
"Uniquely You" is no quick-fix type of help book. Rather it almost requires quiet contemplation, and I think re-reading, not because it is difficult to read (it's not), but because you will want these life lessons to sink in. For that reason, this book is ideal to referring to over and over again, especially when you are feeling discouraged or lost.
Ron believes that helping others, serving others, encouraging others, giving yourself to others, without seeking credit or fame, can and will change lives, your own among them as you will emerge a leader.
Ron tells us that life is worth savoring and exploring. And so is his book.
A good ol' boy raised primarily in southern Missouri, Ron has achieved success despite his roots and also because of them. It's rare to come across someone so willing to learn from every experience in their lives, and yet, that is exactly what Ron has done. Through Uniquely You, he teaches us to take all of the humiliating and painful moments in our past and use them to fuel a leadership style that works. We're all looking for authentic leadership aren't we? Ron's writing is refreshing and rings true in these times. This book inspires me to remember and reframe experiences, learn from them, grow from them, and look for ways to to reach back and take the hand of someone else and lift them up. If you're looking for a timeless book that will speak to your heart and teach you to not only overcome your struggles, but use them to be a powerful leader---this is it.
The weekend I received Ron Kitchens new book, “Uniquely You” I was scheduled to go out for a 3 ½ hour bike ride. Since it was raining and the forecast predicted more rain, I decided to stay in and jump on the bike trainer instead. To make good use of my time, I thought I would start to read “Uniquely You” during my ride. What I didn’t expect was that I would finish it in one sitting. I have known Ron for a long time. Because of my positive friendship with him, I thought “Uniquely You” would be an upbeat book with positive stories but it surprised me. Ron’s book is written from the heart, filled with real struggles and relatable stories. After reading the first quote from Brené Brown, I knew that Ron was going to share his vulnerabilities. Throughout my ride, I drank 5 bottles of water, dripping much of that as sweat all over the book. I couldn’t put it down and read it cover to cover during the bike ride. I’m a great audiobook listener, especially while in the car, but I typically get distracted while reading a physical copy. It’s the first book in my life that I read in one sitting, (on a bike trainer burning 1738 calories to be exact). Thank you, Ron for writing “Uniquely You”. Your book motivated me to be the person I was meant to be. Normally, I would pass along the book after reading it, but because its laced with my sweat, I will be purchasing additional copies to give to friends.
