This was an excellent book. If you are looking for a book that is for grown women, this is your book. Nichole is funny and honest. There are stories that resonate with many of us....thank you for writing this!
I should've taken into account the dripping peach on the front cover, because it talks about sex.. a lot. If you aren't into a lot of sex talk I don't recommend this book. Nichole Perkins talks about different events that occur in her life and how they impact her. overall it's pretty good.
This collection of short essays includes reflections on the author's relationship with her family, body, and her love for pleasure. The book is also a bit of a love letter to the musical artist Prince. Through storytelling, Nichole shares about exploratory stages, affirmation from music, and self-acceptance. Each essay ends with revelatory sentences that make me pause before I flip to the next page. This is such a fun and bold read with surprising chapters that melt my heart. I'm glad I read this book despite my fear of the title.
This book was weirdly relatable lol. There were many essays in this book that made me feel like she knew me personally because our stories align so much. One of my favorite books so far
I heard an interview with Ms. Perkins on NPR during a road trip this summer and enjoyed the excerpt that she read, when I heard the title of the book there was no way I could not read it. This is a wonderfully written collection of essays and it mirrors, at times, my own life experiences, making it all the more satisfying to read. This book adds to the voices of sexually empowered feminists and its revelations vindicate some of my own contemplations on our hyper masculine culture.
I can’t believe in 2022 I found the perfect book! I haven’t been big on reading since social media became a big thing BUT THIS BOOK will have you putting your phone down.
