I appreciate his no nonsense approach to discipline and boundaries. He was able to make me laugh out loud on several occasion. I wish he provided more examples regarding how to find a punishment that fits the behavior, and it might have been good to have chapter on what parents should do and what boundaries they have after their child has become an adult.
I was listening to a Podcast with this author on Focus on the Family. Know. I have not read this book nor will I read this book after listening to the author on this Podcast. He stated that if his 2 or three-year-old child kept running into the road he would spank his child at the same time he saying you can't reason with a child that old. How then does 2 to the 3 year old children know what a spanking is for? I highly recommend Clay Clarkson Heartfelt Discipline!
Be careful listening to the author of this book. On the podcast Focus on the Family, he recommends spanking toddlers. He mentioned that a lot of Christians are moving away from spanking their children. Well.... of course! Who wants to beat on their children to get them to listen?!?! I am an African American woman.... to me it’s a form of oppression to our children! My ancestors got beat enough! I have a soon to be six year old daughter who hasn’t been spanked and she is well behaved! Try positive parenting approach it works! Also be careful spanking your children, all it take is for one of them to go to school and tell someone and your child is gone! Please don’t take this mans advice!
