I really loved this book. I love all the David Beers stories but this one got into my head and it's still rattling around up there.
The characters are so fully developed that I feel like they are real people and I actually know them.
Three of the characters; Luke, Tommy, and, Christian are FBI agents who only deal with exceptional cases. Luke and Tommy are seasoned agents but Christian only recently joined the team. Luke and Christian are both highly intelligent men and both have extraordinary abilities. This case is about women who are missing - most likely have been abducted but no one knows who is taking them or why. The thing about psychopaths is that they don't wear a sign around their neck so they can be caught.
Christian has been pushing away everyone close to him and has withdrawn into himself. But he isn't able to withdraw into the place in his mind that shows him the bad things going on around him and how to resolve them. He is deeply troubled and has no one to whom he can confide. However, he noticed the pattern of the missing women when nobody else did.
Christian is finally starting to see who Luke Titan for what he is. Some heartbreaking losses occur in this chapter but I'm pretty sure there are more to come before the series concludes.
David Beers is a masterful story teller and you really should read this entire series. I was originally given a free or reduced copy of this book in exchange for an honest and impartial review. This has not influenced my review at all.
