First off I am a huge fan of Lorelei James, her books never disappoint.
After reading about the Lund's in Need You series first and then the Want You series, I was so happy to see Nolan get his own book. Mr All Work and No Play has met his match is Gabriella "Gabi" Welk. Their banter from snippy to friendly and then to love was fun to watch.
Their jabs at each other are so funny, their text messages back and forth is where I think they got to actually know each other better. Their text messages were hysterical, the goofy jokes and to me is where they fell in love.
Nolan - Gabi brought out the fun in Nolan. We continue to see his sweet side with his niece Mimi and we saw it in the beginning of the book when he overhears Gabi's boyfriend break up with her. I think a lot of people underestimate how business smart he is. It annoyed me when his cousins kept important information from him, especially in his position with the company to be made to feel like an outsider. He is caring and socially conscious, more than the fashion plate everyone thinks he is. He doesn't want to just stick his name and donate money he wants to be fully involved and the youth LGBTQ with the help and suggestion from his assistant Sam. The care he showed for his assistant going from Samantha to Sam is a credit to his character. I love the relationship he has with his stylist too.
Gabi - Tough with a heart of gold. We see what she sacrificed to make it to the Olympics. The expectations put on her from her parents was wrong and I'm sure they regretted it later. The relationship with her sister is strained when she and Gabi's boyfriend get together. Gabi is a gal I'd like to hang out and have a margarita with, she's fun, takes not crap, she sticks up for herself and even though she is a tough cookie she is a softie on the inside. I loved when she was at the All Star match up she gets her licks in with her enemy. She would be the friend you want, will have your back and would do anything for you. She will keep her word or secret even if it's hard on her.
I think they fell in love with each other over their silly texts and jokes. The shopping spree he took her on for her job interview. He was extremely busy but when she needed his help he was there and this was in the very beginning of their "frenemies' stage. When his Dad has a sudden illness she is there for him. I loved how he was when she is considering a job opportunity that would keep them apart and sadly a conflict of interest that can cause serious issues on both sides.
I am not doing this book justice in my review, I just don't want to give too much away. This book was so good and I was so happy to see another installment of the Lund family. I hope there are plenty more.
