I love this book. It is longer than the normal romance but that is my favorite part. Most romance novels seem to rush to the altar. Trouble in Loveland explores many emotions, thoroughly. Ryan is recovering from a messy divorce and not rushing right into a new relationship. He has is son to consider. Charlee tries so hard to protect her heart, that fickle organ; it knows who she loves. This novel tells the whole story, not just the happily ever after. What did happen when Cinderella found out that Prince Charming snores and has a serious "daddy's little boy" complex? If you love exploring relationships and in depth story telling, read this book. Peel is my new favorite author. There aren't any explicit scenes or graphic make out sessions. This is good story telling at its finest.
Loved it! I have had my eye on this one for a while and when I received the second book as a review book I knew I needed to read this one first. So I dove right in and had a fun ride with these characters. I laughed and yes I'll admit I cried a little too! Who wouldn't (or maybe just I would because I'll admit it, I'm a crier-a bawler sometimes too)!
Definitely one I want to come back and reread again right away. But probably won't happen for a little bit. I'm just about to start More Trouble in Loveland and I can't wait to get back to these characters. I love Jennifer Peel's books and writing style. She always takes a little bit harder aspects of life and writes about them so well. From the emotions and struggles to the happy and sweet resolutions. I've loved every book of hers that I've read!
Content: Clean. It's been a week since I've read it but I believe there were a few mild innuendos scattered throughout.
I absolutely loved Charlee. I don't always love the heroine but I admired her strong sense of who she wanted to be, even when life handed her some lemons. I seriously did not like Ryan. He drove me crazy. Yeah he tried to win me over in the end, okay so maybe he did, but I couldn't fully agree that a few words would make everything right. I needed a few more pages of seeing the change. But seriously, the ending? Yeah. He nails it. I also despised Victoria. Ugh. So having her be the catalyst in the end rubbed me. I was hoping for guns at dawn. Hahahaha. However, this author draws you into their lives so quickly and I feel like I would recognize them if they were walking down the street. The consistent thread I find in her stories is that good relationships take work, and she's completely right. A great read!
This book is about Charlee, who grew having a huge crush on her next door neighbor, Ryan - who is 8 years older than her. When Ryan marries coldhearted redhead and her father's adulterous one-nightstand is revealed, Charlee leaves her hometown Loveland with hopes of never looking back. Seven years later, Charlee returns to work at her father's accounting firm to put her degree to use. Upon her return, she finds out Ryan is her father's business partner and next door neighbor, divorced and father to the most adorable boy in the world.
I love the writing style of Jennifer Peel, so it was an easy decision to pick up this book to read. However, this book is not one of my favorites by her. Mostly, because of Ryan's back-and-forth. I still liked the characters and the story. True, Ryan made many mistakes but I always felt he was genuinely sorry and repentant. Despite all that, I could tell he was a good guy and the ending of the book really made him shine. I really liked Charlee, too. But my favorite character was definitely Josh (he was just too sweet and adorable).
Jennifer Peel has hit another home run. I loved this book, Jennifer's books always evoke an emotional response for me.
I loved Charlee, even though her life was turned upside down at an early age, she comes out of her problems a stronger more mature young woman. I love the way she stands her ground. Instead of cowering away from uncomfortable situations like most would, she demands to be treated with respect. She also shows her compassion and understanding I love her relationship she has with Josh.
Ryan makes me crazy!!!!! In many ways he is less mature than Charlee even though he is eight years her senior. He does have a huge heart even though he bungles his way through his relationship. I enjoyed watching his relationship with Josh. He is a wonderful father.
This story is one roller-coaster ride after another. I love a story with 3 dimensional characters. You will enjoy this book from start to finish.
Okay, let's just say that it has been a long time since a book has just stolen my complete attention and held it captive for the entire book. Trouble in Loveland did just that! I was sucked into Charlee's world and I could not escape and I didn't want to escape either! Peel has a way of writing that is real, down to earth, and resonates with the reader. Charlee could be your own neighbor or friend. Peel also does a fantastic job of writing sizzling romance with all the sparks while still keeping it clean! I was so engrossed in this story that when it was finished I was totally distraught. But then I realized there was a second book and I started reading that the same night! Yup, her story telling is that good! I cannot wait to read more from Jennifer Peel!!!
I LOVED this book. It has been in my little library for a while now. I had forgotten how much I love books by this author. I love when I sit down to read and are taken on a journey. I laughed and cried with this couple as well as along with the wonderful cast of secondary characters. At the end I was satisfied and totally in love with this little family. I know a sequel exists so I just ordered it and can't wait to have it to read. I really want to have this couple moved along in life and have high hopes for this next book. Great Job Jennifer!!! Thank you as well for making this book available in paperback. Some of us still read this way and it is much appreciated. denise bailey
