5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet romance with puppies and kids

To be honest, I would recommend reading the novella at the end first, and then the longer story in the beginning. Lake Haven Beginning takes place before Summer at Lake Haven. I do prefer to read stories in chronological order. Also, the novella at the end sets the stage for the full-length story. If you get this Kindle version, you don't need to get Lake Haven Beginning separately, in my opinion.

I haven't read a Haven Point story in a while, but these 2 hit many of my favorite qualities in a story. There is a moderate pace and a hopeful tone. The storyline is character oriented with no steam. The characters are vibrant and endearing, including kids and dogs. You just want them to find a way to their happy ending so badly! I would have loved to have more of Gemma and Josh's story who are the main characters in the novella. But it was still a great read. If this sounds good to you, get this and sit down for a sweet and satisfying read. Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and satisfying!

Sweet and satisfying! With book eleven in her always beloved Haven Point series RaeAnne Thayne gives Samantha Fremont the happily ever after she's been yearning for over the years. The characters are quick to draw the reader in, the children and puppies in the story line are delightful and the romance is sweet.

Samantha has been someone we've watched as she tried to find love for years as she wavered under her mother's overpowering thumb. Now she's lost a bit now that her mother is gone as she tries to find her knew norm and begins to flourish on her own.

Ian is quite attention grabbing. His kids are adorable, he's secret royalty and he's trying to figure out how to make sure his children heal after losing their mother.

I recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who enjoys a sweet romance set in a small town setting with a large cast of interwoven characters who are like family to each other. There's always a sweet, happy ending in Haven Point!

3.0 out of 5 stars One too many Lake Haven stories for me.

I’m giving this book a three because I usually love this author and I can’t bear to give her less than that from loyalty. This book is wordy and the characters are not that great. The main character was too wish-washy for me and the male lead, oh my goodness, I felt like the author wanted a British character but knew nothing about writing about the UK. I am British, and this guy was like a knock-off from Downton Abbey. He’d have been more believable if he was a Jason Statham type, but alas he was the Hugh Grant type. The earlier book in this series were good books, but they have gotten less than stellar after book six or so. I will re-read some of her old books instead and consign this one to the donate pile. Very disappointed in the couple, whose chemistry I did not believe at all. The storyline was OK, but without the sizzle of the two leads, this one was just meh.

4.0 out of 5 stars A sweet love story.

I enjoyed this somewhat similar take on a Cinderella story. It did seem, however, that the prince was a little over the top an absent-minded professor and should have been able to figure out how to make Cinderella's dreams come true. It certainly gave his mother no trouble. Do not make the same mistake I did after you read the short novella following this story. At only four short chapters and a seemingly unfinished story, I ordered the novella thinking what I had read was the usual sample of the novella. What a surprise to learn that all the novella contained was those same four short chapters! I like Rhayanne Thayne stories, but I feel that novella, "A Lake Haven Beginning", is a rip-off!

5.0 out of 5 stars Never Disappointed

As always, Raeanne Thayne effortlessly transports the reader to another place. In this case back to Lake Haven. This time the main characters are Samantha and Ian. Both have suffered loss and disappointment and have settled for their smaller lives, never dreaming that true love might be possible. The author is a master at the "slow build", offering the tantalization of one layer peeling away and then another. I was right there from the get go, spending the last half hour with tissue in hand. What could be more satisfying to the reader than this?

Anyone who has read the Lake Haven series would want to know what happens to man crazy Samantha Fremont so reading this book is a must. Unfortunately it was a big let down. Way too much repetition regarding Sam’s insecurities thanks to her mother, Linda. Also not enough involvement with extended members of the Lake Haven community. Love RaeAnne Thayne but not this book.

This was book number 11 in the Haven Point series. But you can read it as a stand alone. I love the sweet romance and the strong writing I had all the feels. Thayne is such a great story teller.
I hate to see this series come to an end.
Grab this fast, fun summer read and enjoy this great romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love at first sight.

I really enjoyed this clean summer romance at Lake Haven. I received this book for free and I voluntarily chose to review this. I've given it a 4.7* rating. I really liked the hero and heroine but the idea about Love at first sight, bothers me a little bit. Add young children and puppies to the mix and you have fun bits throughout. I'll be reading a lot more of this author's work.
