5.0 out of 5 starsRomance, Friendship & Mystery Book 1
Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2019
Second Chance romance and friendship for life. One of the reasons that I love to read this author is she gives the reader books that we can escape in that are believable while at the same time have us wishing this was searching as we read. A touch of romance and mystery and yes friendships as well. Ty, Lilly and Hunter were friends as children and the teens. Then a pact made to save one stretches across 10 years until that one comes back to save the others. This book is the first of two and a good read. This is Ty and Lilly's story mainly and yes the backstory.
10yrs ago Ty and Hunter helped Lily Dumant fake her death and promised to never tell. Now Lily’s abusive uncle wants her declared legally dead so he can inherit her trust fund. Ty goes to NYC and brings Lily, now called Lacey, back home to thwart that plan. While Ty and Lacey explore their feelings for each other, someone is attempting to kill Lacey. A $2mil trust is a lot to give up when it’s weeks away from everyone’s reach. Good story.

Lacey faked her own death at seventeen to get away from her abusive uncle. She'd lost her parents and he became her guardian. Her best friends Ty and Hunter helped her pull it off. Now ten years later they find out her uncle is going to have her declared dead and collect her very sizable trust fund. Ty finds out and goes to New York City to bring her back home. Lacey goes back to face her uncle and her past. But someone wants her dead because she collects her trust fund when she turns twenty-seven which is in a few weeks. Ty and Lacey both realize their feelings for each other but don't know what to do about their living so far apart. A hunky P.I., a beautiful business owner, a killer, sex, and a smelly dog. Secondary characters story told too.
With the help of her two best friends Daniel Hunter and Tyler Benson, Lillian Dumont faked her death to escape her abusive Uncle. She disappeared, becoming Lacey Kincaid and neither Ty nor Hunter has seen her since.
Ten years later Hunter discovers that Lilly's uncle is going to have her declared legally dead and claim her family fortune, so he and Ty decide to try and convince her to claim what is rightfully hers.
Ty and Lilly had something special when they were teenagers. With them being too young and not enough time to figure it out, nothing became of it, but now as adults, the attraction is stronger than ever. Hunter is dealing with an unrequited love of his own as well. Unfortunately Molly is tangled up in the danger surrounding Lilly. These four friends have to work together to find out what is going on and who is involved before the threat to Lilly turns deadly.
Cross My Heart is a charming love story. The special bond between Ty and Lilly stirred my romantic heart. Cross My Heart has a common theme where some danger and the uncertainty of their relationship mix and yet I was still easily entertained. There is also a clear setup for Hunter and Molly's story, which I am very eager for! I really enjoy this author's fun, witty, and sensual writing style. In Cross My Heart, Carly Phillips creates a sexy, passionate and endearing story where a hometown hunk and a woman with a troubled past get back the love they thought was lost forever.

I read this book when it was first issued and re read it when it was reissued. I loved Ty, Hunter and Lilly and their story and relationships. This was a wonderful read and I could not put it down. I am looking for tomthe next part of this series. Ty and Lilly are so great and I love their relationship and how they help each other.
I had a tough time getting through this book. I really enjoyed previous Carly Phillips books and just finished the Hot Number, Hot Item, etc.. series before I started this book and I have to say, those were above and beyond better than "Cross My Heart".
The book was boring and the main characters weren't terribly likeable. Thank goodness Hunter and Molly were good supporting characters or this would be a real dud. Stick with previous CF books - it's ok to miss this one!
