Kevin G. Allison
5.0 out of 5 stars Jam-Packed with Wisdom. So Much to Talk About. So Necessary!

I can't recommend Getting It enough. Allison Moon is brilliant, brings lots of lived experience to the table, and has the healthiest, most affirmative attitude about sexuality. You could open this book to any page and use it as a jumping off point for breakthrough conversations with friends or lovers about all the nuances of our sexual and romantic lives and how we navigate the more confusing parts. People with the best intentions make lots of mistakes lots of the time! Communication can be tricky. The more people reading and discussing this book, the better we'll all be for it, because we'll be that much more likely to be having fun, hot, moving and beneficial sex.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book from Allison Moon!
Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2021
Wow, I love this book so much! It’s sexy and queer and fun, but it is also a lovely and affirming self-help book. Kinda like having an honest real life conversation with an experienced, sexy friend of yours who you trust and admire. There are lots of positive tips and practices for sex, consent, emotions, check-ins, health, etc., I think something for anyone regardless of where you are on your sex-life journey.
Unlike like Allison Moon’s last book (have you seen Girl Sex 101?! Go buy it right now and see what happens when you put it on your coffee table...) there are no pictures or artwork in this one, but it doesn’t lack at all. The layout is simple and easy to read, there are nice sidebars and boxes, and the textural purple chapter pages are beautiful. It is pleasing and easy to read and just a pure delight. I tore through it in just a few days.

5.0 out of 5 stars thorough, applicable, and fun

I love Allison Moon and also have her book Girlsex101 and listen to her podcast Artgasm. This book is helping me explore myself, define my boundaries, and broaden my communication toolkit for how to handle any situation that comes up in sex and dating. Everyone should read this book to improve communication around sex, casual or otherwise. I love the concrete, real world tips she gives around how to reject people, how to accept rejection, understanding soft no's and consent, and etiquette around sexting, one-time hookups, FWB, flirting, safe sex, and asking someone out. Somehow Allison acknowledges all the serious subjects that too often lead to confusion, pain, and misery in our dating culture in a light-hearted, humorous way that makes applying these strategies in real life seem way less intimidating and more doable. If everyone in the world conducted themselves in sex and dating (or just life in general) the way Allison Moon has laid out in "Getting It," holy crap, we'd live in a better, safer, more compassionate world. Thanks, Allison, to the MOON and back :)

I was so excited to get news that this book was coming out and I ordered it right away! It was so much fun to read, Allison Moon is creative and knowledgeable. They get the point across is easy-to-understand ways, ask probing questions, and give fantastic examples on the how to and how to NOT hook up with others. One of my favourite books in a long time!
