This is probably the worst series so far that I have ever read in the warrior series, and thus far this is my least favorite book. The characters are all over the place, actions make no sense, and their reasons for their actions make no sense. Clear Sky is absolutely the worst character I've ever had to read about, but I'll save him for last.
The unneeded drama got a bit old. It felt like Turtle Tail only had kits with Tom for the sake of the plot, so that there would be an action packed kitty pet chase to save the kits. I don't understand Tom's need for the kits either. What was the point of that anyways? And if Turtle Tail knew he was such a horrible 'bully' (this word was used to describe Tom multiple times) then why would Turtle Tail EVER mate with him??
Gray Wing, while probably one of the only good characters in this series, was frustrating. His endless faith in Clear Sky got so annoying. After countless evidence of Clear Skys cruelty, including killing a mother, banishing Jagged Peak (Clear Skys own brother!) for getting injured (not to mention it was Clear Skys fault that Jagged Peak got injured), banishing Frost. (Another injured cat) and evidence of killing Bumble, Gray Wing still refuses to think anything bad of him. I just find this so ridiculous tbh.
The amount of times I rolled my eyes at this book is countless as well. Clear Sky is extremely hard to sympathize with, and his excuses for killing cats, having his cats go into a ruthless battle and nearly killing his brother makes no sense. He says that he was driven by fear. Because he didn't want to watch another cat starve to death. This is so stupid because literally its described in detail how they have so much prey it turns rotten. Also, he doesn't want any of his cats to die of starvation, but he'll send them in a battle that ultimately leads to death? Clear Sky is either insane or very low IQ. And the fact that the Starclan cats forgave him for his actions after the battle is so dumb. Especially when they blamed all the cats for the deaths, and not just Clear Sky. Can you imagine the series without Clear Sky? THERE WOULD BE NO DEATH! How is it any other cats fault that death was brought to the forest? Not to mention Shaded Moss scolding Tall Shadow for killing Fircone to save Thunder, and asking how she knew that he was going to kill Thunder, when cats were literally killing each other left and right. Either Tall Shadow risked Thunder dying because 'she wasnt sure that he was going to kill Thunder' or saved Thunder from a vicious enemy who would have likely ripped Thunders throat out if it weren't for Tall Shadow. And why didn't these oh so wise Starclan cats appear before the battle? Did they want more deaths or something? Or did the author just want more Starclan cats to work with?
And even though Storm wasn't alive In this book, I still want to know why she and Clear Sky fell in love at first sight. What is this, a Disney movie? There were also multiple mistakes and typos in the book, including saying cats have a different pelt than originally described, calling a she kit a him, and missing punctuations and misspellings.
Overall this book was pretty unbearable. There were a few redeeming points in the book and there was Gray Wings relationship with the kits and Pebble Heart. For those reasons, I give this book 2 stars. It's much too frustrating of a read to give any higher of a rating.
