The third volume of this 17th century mystery series was as equally compelling as the first two. It's possible that it's easier for Londoners to know where the characters are but that shouldn't put you off. It's as compelling as Hilary Mantel's Cromwell books.
I have read all three books in this series, and they get better and better each time. I can’t wait for the next one. I felt like I was in London during the great fire and walked the streets that Cat and Marwood walked. Wonderful and thrilling.
I loved this book. This is the third in a trilogy which I have read and loved them all. A great historical thriller which has amazing detail about London and life in the 1600’s. A must read for everyone but read the other two first!
Well written - wonderful story. The author weaves history lessons (from social etiquette to religious beliefs) with a good page-turning story. The images stay in my head. I'm only sorry I'm done with the book!
I have read the entire series and enjoyed them very much. Good history and engaging characters. I'm pleased that Taylor has kept the sexual attraction between Cat and Marwood unresolved throughout. Looking forward to the next one with anticipation.
As a fan of anything to do with old London, i read all three books in this series one after the other and I have to say I think they got better and better as they went along. Lots of detail of daily life and plenty of plot twisters. Very entertaining and can't wait for book 4
