Publisher's summary

He's a scribe looking for answers. If only a cagey - and frustratingly attractive - singer will let him help.

Summoned to the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, Rhys of Glast, Irin archivist and scribe of Istanbul, must convince a legendary Irina singer to trust him. His success could shift the balance of power all over the Irin world and give singers an important key to their past.

Meera didn't call for Rhys's help, and she doesn't need it. The scribe's mission is to bring more martial magic into the Irin world, while Meera has been looking for a path toward peace. She's convinced that some other motive is at work, and his stubborn arrogance doesn't pass for charm in her hallowed opinion.

Discovering ancient Irina magic should be something both scholars can agree on, but can these two rivals find any common ground? Neither Rhys nor Meera can ignore the simmering heat between them, but will attraction overcome the caution that has shaped both their lives?

Contains mature themes.

Heavenly!

As usual I loved this book in the Irin Chronicles. Elizabeth Hunter has written another series that has been a joy to read! The people in the story are wonderfully written with depth . I would say to anyone I know read this series.

Great addition to the series

I started following Elizabeth Hunter when I read The Scribe, I’ve read others that she’s published and I still find myself going back and reading these books again. This one is no exception. I loved the story and the conflict between characters was sweet and building as they should. It is a sexy book, read by a very sexy Aaron Sherlock. Well worth the coin and the wait. I do feel very sad for the continued struggle of the children of the fallen. One day....

Good story

Oh Rhys! I have liked his character from the very first time he was introduced in this series. I had hope that he would find his one and only. Meera makes a great fit for him! The story is interesting and entertaining! The characters are likable and relatable. The narrator did a great job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene.

One of my favorite series ever

This series was the first series I had ever found by Elizabeth Hunter, and since then I have returned to it on more than one occasion. These are wonderfully performed, and I enjoyed each book. I was so glad Reese got his own to. I’m always wondering though what that Angel is up to with those kids.

It’s ok

I was a little disappointed with this book. It’s pretty slow. Colored to the warrior with Zachary Webber narrating and the build up of ava an d Malaki this book has no comparison. I liked the parts with Azeriial but really fell short . It’s work the read for the simple fact I love the idea that had been continued. I would have lived it more if the accent of Reese was actually English. I did like his depiction of the female voice with an Indian accent. Worth the credit if your a fan of the story line. Don’t plan on getting to excited and you may fall asleep at times but again the overall story was that of hope and love, always a good thing.
