Caroline was a surprise! She is multi talented. I enjoyed the suspense in here as well as the twists. It really kept my interest. Thomas Locklear and Scarlet Love do a wonderful job with the narration. It is always a pleasure!

The Pakhan is the first book in The Brutal Empire series. This story is a dark mafia billionaire age gap romance starring Caroline and Vadim. Caroline is a hacker who gets into trouble with the mob and she runs to Vadim, her best friend’s father and head of the Russian mafia. Vadim then decides to help and protect Caroline. This story is full of romance, passion, danger, drama, suspense, intrigue with many twists and turns along the way. You will be on the edge of your seat until the very end. Thomas Locklear and Scarlet Locklear were both absolutely phenomenal in their narration of this audiobook. They portrayed every character perfectly. Thomas did a wonderful Russian accent. I highly recommend listening to this audiobook!

The story was very hot and moved along well. The male narrator had the low husky voice that is easy to listen to. The female voice did not even try to change to a different voice when talking the MMC. At times I had to stop and rewind to figure who said what.

The Pakhan was a great start to the series. This story had me captivated from beginning to end. I am so excited and can’t wait to hear. Book two.

This author never ceases to amaze me with her creativity and suspenseful storylines. Caroline is a friend of Pakhan's daughters and when she gets in over her head in her hacking role she begs his help to protect her. Yes the mafia boss is more than half her age older but the attraction is intense. l loved their interactions and found I was shaking my head every time Caroline reached out to her old boss. Girl what are you thinking?
Thomas and Scarlet brought the story to life and I could not stop listening! Time well spent for this audible listener.
